HYPE tops the list with approximately $251 million in tokens expected to be unlocked immediately, also known as a cliff unlock.
Since a huge amount of tokens are expected to enter the circulating supply simultaneously, HYPE is currently exposed to a higher shock risk.

Expectations of huge unlocks this week have already triggered fear, uncertainty and doubt within the crypto community.

It is important to note that token unlocking does not change or alter the fundamental principles, technology, and utility of any cryptocurrency.
Instead, these are the tokens that have been locked for a project’s founders, early investors, team, or partners.
Naturally, the market expects selling pressure when large token unlocks come online. However, some investors might not sell anytime soon, either due to future sentiment, a bear market, or long-term utility.
Currently, many tokens are already far from their ATHs. For example, SOL is down 57% from its high price of $294. HYPE saw quite a similar move and is currently down 56% from its ATH of $59.
Overall, the global crypto market cap has declined by $1.2 trillion since the beginning of October.
Since some investors would prefer to wait for a better price, selling pressure would likely be much lower than the market expects.
For example, the crypto market did not experience high volatility after the $309 million token was unlocked on December 15. Instead, most assets continued their sideways movements.
