The update of Ethereum ðV of Gav II

Well … what two weeks loaded. I thought it was time to make another update for all those who could be interested in the way we do. If you do not already know it, I am Gavin, founder of Ethereum and one of the three directors (alongside Vitalik and Jeffrey) of Ethereum ðV, the development entity building Ethereum and all the associated technology.

After having recruited in the name of DEV in Bucharest with the help of Mihai Alisie and the charming Roxanna Sureanu, I spent last week at home (and by coincidence, Ethereum siege) in Zug, Switzerland. Meanwhile, I was able to go to the first Whisper prototype, our identity -based secure communication protocol, ending with a small IRC type ðApp demonstrating how easy it is to use. For those interested, there is more information on the whispering Ethereum Github Wiki And a pretty little screenshot On my Twitter wire. In addition to that, I helped finalize the POC-7 specification which will soon be announced and to work towards a POC-8 (final). Finally, during our short time together in Zug, Jeffrey, Vitalik and I wrote our strategy concerning identity and key management; This will be developed further in the coming weeks.

Ðvhub Berlin

In Berlin, Sarah was super artisanal with the manufacturers who prepare the hub. Here is a couple photos work in progress which is the Berlin hub. It might not look like a lot yet, but we are on the target to be moved to mid-November. I am particularly satisfied with Sarah’s efforts to find a real barrista espresso machine from the 70s (-:

I am delighted to announce that Christian Vömel is joining the Berlin team to be the office director of ðvhub Berlin. Christian has many years of experience, including having worked in an international environment and has even taught offices! He will take part of the office of our company secretary, Aeron Buchanan.

The team grows

We have finalized a certain number of new hires in the past two weeks: the Network engineer Lefteris Karapetsas will join the Berlin team with Imminence. Having considerable experience in the analysis of cutting -edge network traffic and deep package inspection systems, it will help audit our network protocols, however (like a large part of our team) really multidisciplinary, he will also work on Natspec, the code name of our system of specification of formal contract of natural language, a cord of our transaction security model.

I am happy to announce that Ian Meikle, the accomplished videographer who co-wrote the impressive “Koyaanis-Glitchy” Ethereum brand video was transferred to ðV to help the communication team. The one who will only be known as the texture has also joined the side of communications with Stephan to help the strategy in the United States and coordinate the global meeting and hackathon network. Great to see a designer as capable and passionate about the team; I know he has some good ideas for ðApps!

Two other hires under Stephan in the Comms team include Ken KapplerManagement of the orientation of the education of developers, hackathons, the Ethereum program and university partnerships. George Hallam was also used to evangelize Ethereum with startups and partners, increasing the scope of our official network and generally help Stephan in the quest to know to everyone what Ethereum is and how it can help them.

Jeff’s team has also been enlarged recently; He will tell you about his developments in an imminent position.

New developments

Aside from the above-mentioned progress with Whisper and POC-7, Christoph continued his excellent work with the test repository. Christian made great progress with the language of solidity after recently placed the first compiled program Solidity on the test chain testnet a few days ago.

Marek carefully moved C ++ to a JSON-RPC and JavaScript Front-end fundamentally unified and linked to the Go Customer. Alex, meanwhile, was struggling with the Back-End Crypto C ++ and did an excellent work to reduce bloating and foreign outbuildings.

In recent times, the Comms team has offered good news, in particular, it is in contact with certain world class education establishments concerning the possibility of an education partnership and the training of a network of chapters in the United Kingdom and abroad. Look at this space (-:

Finally, our Polish partners of IMAPP (Paweł and Artur) finished their first implementation of the EVM implementation based on LLVM compiled by Jit. They signal an average of 30x (up to 100x!) For non -external EVM instructions on the basic C ++ basic EVM implementation already the best class. Brilliant work and we expect even more improvements and optimizations.

And the rest …

So much to come; There are a few announcements (including a multitude of imminent hires) that I would like to do, but they must be finalized before they can write about them here. Look for the next update!

GAV (gavin.nospam.wood@ethdev.com).
