The International Football Association Federation (FIFA) plans to launch a new blockchain network to support its collectibles of non -buttons (NFT), the organization announced on April 30.
FIFA will launch its “FIFA Blockchain”, with the compatibility of the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) and aims to provide “better performance, future functionalities and an improvement in scalability”.
As part of this decision, the FIFA Collect – its official NFT collection – Migrera from the Algorand blockchain to the new FIFA blockchain. Migration should start as soon as possible on May 20, FIFA said.
“At this stage, no immediate action is required. When the migration process begins, we will provide clear instructions and step by step on what you need to do (if applicable),” said the ad.
The migration of the collection will take place “not earlier”, on May 20, said FIFA, adding that it will confirm the exact date and provide clear instructions for NFT holders.
After migration, wallets based on external algorands such as Pera and will no longer be supported. Instead, users will be able to connect to FIFA Collect via Metamask or other EVM wallets that support WalletConnect.
Other collectibles listed will be automatically listed on the new platform, unless users put them before the migration date.
