We are excited to kick off this new year by sharing an update that is not just a reveal of the location and date of Devcon 7, but rather an exciting expansion of our vision. This year, we are embracing the entire Southeast Asia region as the stage for our community gathering! Why? Read on to find out!
First of all, thank you for your patience amidst the buzz and speculation about our next destination. After a Memorable moment in Bogota for Devcon VI, We have made the decision to schedule Devcon 7 for 2024. One of the main reasons for this decision was our desire to increase Devcon’s impact on regional Ethereum communities. The extra time allows us to engage more deeply with these local communities, providing them with more meaningful support and autonomy.
We are now ready to make Devcon 7 a more inclusive and region-focused event, and to reflect this vision, we will be calling it “Devcon Southeast Asia,” instead of referring to the name of the host city.
With this context and new vision in mind, let’s dive into the exciting details!

The Ethereum community in Southeast Asia has significant potential, as evidenced by the growing adoption of the cryptocurrency. Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand are leading the way Global Cryptocurrency Adoption Indexhighlighting the region’s central role in the global Ethereum landscape.
Southeast Asia is a melting pot of diverse cultures, rich histories and communities, and our intention is to envelop all of Southeast Asia in the Devcon experience. From the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur to the scenic beauty of Bali, from the tech hub of Singapore to the historic charm of Vietnam, this region is buzzing with energy. And Bangkok, with its unique blend of tradition and modernity, is an ideal location in terms of location relevance and global accessibility.
🛤 The Road to Devcon: Our Journey So Far 🛤
Over the past few months, we have launched the Road To Devcon (RTD) Grant Round. This initiative was born out of our commitment to supporting the emergence of new Ethereum events, local communities, and educational initiatives across Southeast Asia. We are excited to see the enthusiasm and innovative proposals pouring in from Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
To everyone we have supported so far, a big thank you! Your projects and efforts have paved the way for the Ethereum community in Southeast Asia. For those based in Southeast Asia with community-focused ambitions, we encourage you to ask for a small sponsorship and help shape the ecosystem.
What makes Devcon so special is our diverse and ever-growing community. As we focus on Devcon 7, we are looking for continued community involvement. From Southeast Asia to all corners of the world, we want to hear from you.
