The Planck network, an infrastructure protocol targeting the boom of artificial intelligence, launched a layer 0 blockchain aimed at supporting decentralized AI networks, the company announced on Tuesday.

Blockchain is designed to serve as a fundamental infrastructure for AI applications, in particular those designed for decentralized physical infrastructure networks (depins). These networks combine equipment, tokens incentives and distributed treatment to create alternatives to centralized resources, such as cloud services.

This decision is aligned with an increasing push within the cryptographic industry to provide principles of web decentralization to the development of AI, a sector still dominated by centralized actors such as Optai and Google.

“Currently, the calculation of high performance AI is highly centralized in the hands of a few technological giants,” a spokesperson for Planck told Cointelegraph.

Planck is one of the many blockchain projects working on alternative approaches to the decentralization of AI. Bittensor, for example, focuses on decentralized automatic learning, while Fetch.ai facilitates the creation of AI agents via its decentralized platform.

Planck claims that his blockchain will generate protocol income from transaction costs, the use of SDKs and developers’ tools. Meanwhile, GPU operators providing calculation resources will be rewarded by the native token of the protocol according to the availability of the machine (proof of connectivity) and actual use (proof of delivery).

Most Planck’s income come from the rental of GPU and calculation contracts. The company claims that its hourly model and on demand reduces costs up to 90% compared to traditional cloud services.

Since February, the company has generated $ 1.5 million in income, mainly GPU energy rental. The company is also in competition with other infrastructure providers such as Vast.ai, Coreweave and Lambda, who all capitalize on the current IA shortage.
