The Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), Tomasz Stańczak, urged developers to redirect their attention to the next Fusaka upgrade, warning who focuses on the latest version of Glamsterdam could endanger short-term progress.

In an August 8 update on X, Stańczak said that he had advised the project coordinators to suspend discussions on Glamsterdam. This upgrade is not expected before the start or mid-2026, while Fusaka is planned for integration in the fourth quarter of 2025.

He argued that the displacement of conversations at Fusaka is essential, because the upgrade is already in the Testnet phase and faces development challenges sensitive to time.

Stańczak suggested that reducing the number of calls dedicated to future forks could help the team focus on solving current problems.

Why the upgrade of Fusaka remains the priority

The executive of the EF stressed that the target date of Fusaka is vital to maintain the wider roadmap of Ethereum. He warned that the network may not deliver its declared vision without stricter coordination.

He said:

“As I have said on several occasions, no amount of roadmap and Ethereum’s vision sheet is important if we cannot reach levels of coordination that regularly reach objectives on time.”

Meanwhile, Stéains expressed its optimism that the development teams would resolve the bottlenecks that prompted some to offer changing deadlines.

He said:

“Talented engineers are already working on problems. We need a large agreement that chronologies are important. ”

Fusaka will introduce a range of technical improvements thanks to several proposals for improving Ethereum (EIPS). These include sampling of the availability of peer data (PEERDAS) to improve data distribution, adjustments to the transaction gas limit and refinements to the BLOB parameters. Collectively, these changes should strengthen scalability and performance.

The push to finalize Fusaka follows the growing pressure of the Ethereum community for faster upgrade deployments. Many consider changes as essential to keep Ethereum competitive in a fast -evolving blockchain landscape.

Glamsterdam remains on the roadmap and should arrive before the third quarter of 2026. For the moment, however, Stańczak maintains that the immediate priority of the network must be to ensure the fluid and opportune launch of Fusaka.
