Ethereum is preparing for one of its most important improvements of the year. The Fusaka upgrade, defined for December, will present Peerdas, a new way for nodes to check the availability of data without downloading the complete blockchain. Vitalik Buterin believes that this feature will be the key to the eco -layer ecosystem scale of Ethereum.
Instead of forcing the nodes to download everything, Peerdas allows them to sample small pieces of data. By checking these parts, the nodes can be convinced that the full data set exists on the network. This approach reduces the burden of individual participants while keeping security intact.
Address the bottleneck of Ethereum
Ethereum rollers have long been retained by limited data availability. Peerdas was described for the first time in January under the EIP-7594 to solve this problem. The change will allow more data to circulate in the system, increasing the roller scale and reducing costs for users.
Fusaka will solve this problem.
But also, security is first of all of the utmost importance for Fusaka. The main feature, Peerdas, tries to do something unprecedented enough: having a live blockchain that does not require any unique node to download the complete data.
The way Peerdas works is that …

Blob activity is already increasing. This week, the network has reached its target of six Blobs per block for the first time. The Coinbase and Worldcoin basic network were among the main engines. Blubs were introduced earlier this year in Dencun upgrade and quickly became essential to reduce costs on layer 2.
The upgrade of Fusaka will double the capacity of Blob, going from six to 12 per block. During the following weeks, developers plan to increase the maximum even more, first to 15 and later to 21 years. Buterin said the team was cautious, stressing that it is a new technology and requires meticulous deployment.
Vitalik’s broader vision
Buterin has been active on X in recent weeks, sharing tests and blog articles on the place where Ethereum is heading. He recently called for the construction of digital systems on open and verifiable technology. He also argued that the future of Ethereum will rely on low -risk deffi, where security and confidence arise before speculation.
Peerdas is part of this broader vision. By making the availability of data more reliable and more efficient, Ethereum can manage the next wave of rollers while protecting users. For Buterin, it’s not just a question of performance. It is a question of building infrastructures that people can trust for the decades to come.
