The guitarist of Sevenfold Avenged Synyster Gates widens his Empire Gear Signature with the SG -22 – a brand new chief of tube amp and CAB released under his union brand.
It is a guitar amp, of course, but there is a slight touch. The clean amplifier is carefully suitable for pedalboards and the rack mounting effects, and, in an unexpected movement, it also becomes “the very first authenticated amplifier on the blockchain”.
Gates worked with Schecter to develop his signature amplifier, Hellwin, in 2013, but went to the FX AX a few years later. From now on, the head of the universal pedal platform SG-22 and the matching cabin of CAB is reminding the attention of the doors on the tube amps.
The head of 175 watts was designed by Gates and developed alongside the engineer Don Morris. It is designed to “maximize the potential of your pedalboard or rack effect system in a clean and friendly format.”
As such, a “clean, high -end” preamp, representing the pedals with which it will be twinned. Its post-break-up effect loop has lines and instrument level level modes for rack effect systems and pedal-card, respectively.
The controls include the volume, a three -band equalizer, a presence and a master. In particular, there is no gain, with the channel specific amplifier to better provide tones of stompbox without compromise.
Interestingly, it has two integrated power supplies – 9 DC volts up to 0.9 amps and 18 volts DC up to 0.9 amps – to release precious real estate. The head can also hang on to the cabin for more security.
Under the black grille of his open back cabin is an V-Type V-type 12 ”12” type speaker.
“It is intended to be used with your favorite distortion and overdrive pedals to reach the deformed gain stages that most players want,” explains Gates. “I decided to create a PPA rather than a traditional amplifier at high gain due to its versatility.

“Clean tones are designed for maximum transparency, allowing the character of your distortion pedals to shine. That said, the cleaning ended up seeming incredible by themselves.”
Gates also works on a signature distortion pedal, the original Syn, which, according to him, also appears through the group Leftfield 2023 album, Life is just a dream …
