Finally some good crypto news from the UK. From the 8th of October 2025, UK retail investors will be able to buy crypto ETNs again, at least Bitcoin, it's not clear which other assets may be allowed. This is a huge deal, because we will finally have a way to hold crypto in our pension funds or ISAs, with the tax advantages those bring. Yes, ETNs are paper coins with the additional risks that brings, and we'll have to wait and see if and when they eventually allow ETFs, but it's better than nothing. Plus investing in ETNs allows us to avoid the obstacles that many UK banks put in the way of people trying to transact with crypto exchanges. I for one will be adding some to my stocks and shares ISA at the first opportunity (for those that don't know, an ISA is a type of account allows you to invest up to £20k per year tax free).
What does the FCA's new crypto ETN policy mean for retail investors?
