Blockchain.comone of the oldest crypto companies, on Monday named a new co-CEO to complement U.S. executive chairman and CEO Peter Smith, who operates out of the company’s London office.

Co-CEO Lane Kasselman is helping build the company’s new U.S. headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Kasselman is promoted from within, after having held the position of Blockchain.comcommercial director then president.

“Since I met Lane in 2015, he has been instrumental in the company’s growth, overseeing core functions while shaping the company’s overall vision,” Smith wrote in a statement.

According to The Information on Monday, the company plans to go public next year.

The two executives will focus on different aspects of the business, with Smith handling engineering strategy and product innovation and Kasselman leading “capital markets, commercial operations and brand strategy,” the company said.

“This dual leadership model creates a unique approach where technical execution and business acumen work in tandem, which will allow us to effectively build and innovate for our next phase,” Smith noted, adding that the hire ensures the company “is not reliant on a single leader or geography.”

Blockchain.com, which launched the first Bitcoin block explorer in 2011 and operates a popular crypto wallet, has become active in digital asset treasury as an investor and service provider. The company moved its US headquarters from New York to Miami in 2021.
