Ethereum’s (ETH) latest drop below $2,000 is no longer limited to price charts alone. Capital flows, on-chain data, and technical structure are now aligning with bearish momentum, reinforcing fears that the selloff may have further room to run.

As ETH breaks through key support zones, new ETF outflows and a shift in investor behavior add pressure at a time when confidence already appears fragile.

ETF outflows signal decline in institutional appetite
Ethereum spot ETFs saw a net outflow of $80.79 million on February 5, according to SoSoValue data.
Fidelity’s FETH accounts for the bulk of the movement, with $55.78 million flowing out of the fund in a single session. While FETH still holds a historic cumulative inflow of $2.51 billion, the significant daily drawdown highlights renewed caution from investors.
Not all products have been released. Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust (ETH) saw the largest daily inflow at $7.05 million, followed by Invesco’s QETH at $3.53 million. However, these gains were not enough to offset the increase in sales.
Total Ethereum spot ETF assets now stand at $10.9 billion, representing approximately 4.83% of the ETH market cap. This uneven pattern of flows suggests selective positioning rather than widespread accumulation.
Ethereum price structure weakens as support levels give way
Ethereum price action has continued to decline, with ETH recently trading below the $2,000 range after briefly dropping to $1,750 earlier this week. Analysts tracking higher timeframes note that the bearish structure of the market remains intact, with no bullish changes confirmed on the four-hour chart.
Former support around $2,125 has now turned into resistance, while traders monitor liquidity zones near $2,200 and $2,300 for potential reactions. A sustained recovery above $2,345 is widely considered the minimum requirement to signal a change in trend.
In the meantime, rallies are treated as corrective actions within a broader downtrend.
On-chain signals and developer concerns add context
On-chain data shows clear divergence between investor cohorts. Mid-sized holders reduced their exposure during the decline, while large portfolios increased their holdings, suggesting accumulation by long-term players amid weakness.
At the same time, exchange flows, notably on Binance, have reached levels last seen in 2022, often associated with distribution or repositioning.
Beyond price, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently criticized the lack of innovation among copycat EVM chains, arguing that increasing progress risks stagnating without deeper technical differentiation.
While these comments are not directly related to the market, they support broader concerns about direction and execution within the ecosystem.
