We are delighted to announce a new wave of subsidies to fund formal research aimed at creating more knowledge about Ethereum, blockchain technology and related fields. We encourage academics, research centers, doctoral students, and anyone interested in Ethereum research to submit their project proposals. This grant cycle has total available funding of up to $750,000.
Knowledge as a flywheel for Ethereum
Ethereum is continually evolving at lightning speed, transforming the way people think about economics and finance, challenging cybersecurity in new contexts, impacting arts and culture, changing identities, and ultimately reshaping the status quo in various areas of society.
The academic community can and should play an increased role in this process to help resolve major issues and advance the Ethereum ecosystem.
There are a growing number of exceptional researchers exploring various areas related to Ethereum and positively impacting our shared knowledge around privacy, mechanism design, economics, transparency, financial inclusion, and more. But we would like to encourage more!
Decentralized knowledge and a truly global community
This grant round aims to support formal research on Ethereum and related fields while attracting more players into the ecosystem. The more knowledge and research is shared within the global community, the more Ethereum can evolve to have a greater and positive impact.
So what are we looking for?
We seek to fund formal, scientific, systematic research and sponsor freely available and open source content targeting Ethereum and related fields. To help you get started, please see our wish list. This list of ideas and project areas is not meant to be exhaustive, so don’t limit your creativity. We will accept applications for any research topic that may impact the Ethereum ecosystem.
The deadline for this grant cycle is April 22, 2022. Consult all the information on our website and if you have any questions, you can contact us at academic-grants@ethereum.org.
We look forward to working with scholars from around the world. If you know anyone who might be interested, please spread the word!
We believe that working to increase the knowledge of our community is an investment in the future of Ethereum.
