The day of the earth is there again. However, you choose to recognize the opportunity, it is always good to spend time thinking about how to work more intelligently. A solid, secure and trustworthy blockchain network is based on work proof (POW) to work. BSV uses the energy that this more effectively requires than any other network. You could say that the BSV blockchain works more intelligently by existing. Put it wisely, and it can also help find efficiency gains in other industrial sectors.
Earth Day is a campaign of the Earth Day Network organization (EDN). Since 1970, its mission is to mobilize one billion people a year, in a single day, to participate in an action to protect the planet. Each year has a theme, and this year, it is “our power, our planet” by emphasizing energy problems.
According to the EDN website, this means “to make smart energy choices for your family and demand a rapid deployment of renewable energies of your governments, industries and businesses”. Although the deployment of renewable energies is something that any network of Blockchain Pow could make, in the BSV industry, we also like to look at intelligent energy choices from another angle: to use the available energy better.
As we have noted several times before, “the blockchain is a economy of scale”. This essentially means that the more people use Blockchain technology to secure and check the data, the more effective it becomes. It also becomes more resilient and more reliable, than you use for simple financial transactions or data files such as property, environmental and health files, government services or commercial contracts.
The capacity of the BSV blockchain to evolve without limits, at high speed and low use, in fact the perfect network to build this economy of scale. The BSV has even been declared the “most energy -efficient” work blockchain network in a Canadian accounting mnp report. It is versatile in that it can be used to secure any type of data in any volume, which means that it has as many potential use cases as the Internet itself.
If a blockchain network consumes the same amount of power as a country from small to medium for the sole purpose of registering financial transactions for a small group of price speculators, accusations of ineffectiveness and waste become valid. However, if this network is used to record and share scientific research, follow weather data and
Environmental conditions of agriculture, check the official or tokenize documents and exchange assets in the physical world, its energy requests become more reasonable. For an emerging example of use cases justifying consumption, let us briefly examine artificial intelligence (AI).
AI, data centers creating an exponential increase in energy demand
In recent years, AI and automatic learning have attracted projectors from the POW block reward for consumption and energy requirements. Estimates of exact requirements can be vague or speculative, but some say that the amount of energy necessary for training and inference for automatic learning has doubled every six months since 2010 and should grow exponentially as individuals, governments and large companies are based on these decision -making systems.
The prohibition of POW, according to current research, represents approximately 0.4% of global demand for electricity per year – equivalent, as often said, to countries like the Netherlands or Pakistan.
A projection for 2026 is that Bitcoin exploitation will require 160 TWh. AI is slightly less at 100–134 TWh, but it’s for
Generative AI only – The total demand for data centers could exceed 1,000 TWh. AI also develops quickly, more than POW extraction.
These figures have not led to calls to reduce automatic learning activity, rather the opposite. There are renewed calls to build new nuclear power plants, including research on smaller reactors built to provide energy to specific operations and a Microsoft initiative (NASDAQ: MSFT) to restart operations of the notorious factory of Three Island of Pennsylvania. Proposals like these to provide a war in prison would at least increase the eyebrows and more likely produce strong opposition.
The main difference in attitudes between these two industrial sectors is due to a perception that AI is of vital strategic importance in economics and geopolitics. On the other hand, the extraction of Bitcoin / Block award is always considered a frivolous prosecution based on speculative prices for a relative minority of the population.
In a way, the blockchain industry can thank the AI for two reasons: it has created the consumer story that energy consumption in the continuation of technological advancement is a clear good, and this has also led to estimates and projections made for “data centers” in general, without differentiation between what these data centers do. This has taken part of the heat (so to speak) of POW extraction for the moment.
By examining real use cases, it is always important to consider the additional advantages that an energy efficient blockchain can also offer.
BSV use cases can, in fact, “protect the planet”
Over the years, we have seen several examples of the BSV blockchain used to follow environmental data. The latest example is Weathchain, from Smartledger and Smartgrow Agritech. The project uses a range of simple but powerful sensor devices on the Internet of Objects (IoT) called “Tempest”. These solar energy devices collect information on various environmental conditions relevant to farmers, including air pressure and wind, temperature / humidity and storms.
In recent years, other projects have fulfilled similar functions with the same objective: to create verifiable recordings of conditions that contribute to environmental research and action. Data collection can be automated and downloaded in the “Big Universal Truth Book” of Blockchain, where anyone can access and check their authenticity. And it would always be verifiable in a century. Another Smartledger project, Proof of ESG, aims to fight against “greenwashing” or the false allegations of environmental conviviality.
Although they are not directly concerned with improving the environment, projects that generate millions of transactions, as
The trace of MintBlue and Gate2chain also helps automate human work and reduce the demand for physical paper. How? By making the digital commercial files secure and verifiable according to a legal standard.
All projects above are examples of BSV Blockchain’s “scale economy”. By making the blockchain networks more versatile, it makes them more energy efficient. It is even possible that blockchain registers follow energy consumption, as well as supply and demand, whether the source is renewable energies, nuclear or fossil fuels.
Clean energy and renewable sources can be a noble objective, but it is far from certain that the whole of the world economy can make this transition in the predictable future. The growth of the artificial intelligence sector is a tacit admission of that with its research on powerful sources of energy but with low CO2 like nuclear. The day of the earth asks us to look at energy consumption and wonder how it is used. There are a lot of answers to that, and an effective / scalable blockchain is only one, but given the ever -increasing dependence of the world with regard to data, this could be major.
For artificial intelligence (AI) to work directly in law and thrives in the face of increasing challenges, it must integrate a business blockchain system which guarantees the quality and property of data, which allows them to protect data while guaranteeing data immutability.
