Anthropic has reaffirmed that its flagship assistant Claude will remain ad-free, framing that stance as integral to user trust and long-term usefulness, even as rival OpenAI recently signaled it was exploring advertising in its ChatGPT products.
The company reinforced that message with a Super Bowl ad that mocked the idea of ads appearing in AI conversations, positioning Claude as an ad-free alternative.

In an accompanying blog post, Anthropic said the ad would be inconsistent with Claude’s goal of being a useful tool for deep thinking and sensitive tasks. The company said users will not see sponsored links alongside conversations and Claude’s responses will not be influenced by advertisers.
“Claude must act unambiguously in the interests of our users,” the company said, emphasizing that this particularly applies to work, complex reasoning and personal matters.
OpenAI has confirmed that it will begin testing ads in ChatGPT, with placements expected for free and Go-tier users in the United States. Premium tiers are expected to remain ad-free, and OpenAI says ads will be clearly labeled and separated from organic responses.
