The Cardano Foundation has officially announced a new partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio in Janeiro (PUC-RIO), a top Brazilian university renowned for its contributions to research and development. Collaboration, revealed on April 15, will focus on progress and practical application of blockchain technology, especially in the energy sector in Brazil.
Cardano joins the best Brazilian university
PUC-RIO is recognized as one of the five best private universities in the world for excellence in research and development, and it has a wide history of partnerships within the energy industry. The creation of this collaboration follows the previous cooperation efforts between PUC-ROI and the Brazilian public enterprise Petrobras, as well as the own involvement of the Cardano Foundation with Petrobras on Blockchain initiatives.
Thanks to this new company, Puc -Roi Ledger laboratories – a research group focusing on the use of DLT in finance and business – will receive the support of the Cardano Foundation to explore various aspects of the implementation of the blockchain. According to official statements, the first areas of interest will include the blockchain economy, decentralized finances (DEFI), the governance of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) and digital assets.
“At the heart of the progress of the blockchain is education and innovation. Thanks to our collaboration with estimated university establishments such as PUC -ROI, the Cardano Foundation guarantees that the next generation of developers, industry leaders and regulators can exploit this transformative technology to its greatest potential – creating solutions that deal with real challenges and have proposed a positive global impact, “said the Cardano Foundation Cardano Frederik Gregaard.
The emphasis immediately put in this alliance will be oriented towards the development of blockchain -based solutions that improve production, consumption and overall value chains in renewable energy fuels. The joint research and cooperative research projects with Petrobras should dive into specific methods of application of the Cardano blockchain infrastructure to processes such as monitoring and verification of energy results, optimization of workflows and the guarantee of the integrity of robust data.
Ledger Labs de Puc-Ro will serve as an operational basis for these studies. Leonardo Lima, vice-dean of the university and responsible for Ledger Labs, noted that the scope of the partnership would also include philanthropic efforts focused on social impact. “Our partnership with the Cardano Foundation marks the start of the development of a series of use cases, not only in the energy industry but also in the field of philanthropy, by emphasizing social impact projects,” he said.
Beyond technological and scientific research, the partnership aspires to enrich the PUC-Roi blockchain ecosystem by organizing joint events, supporting social projects led by students and inviting other organizations to collaborate with the emerging Blockchain Strategies. An important part of this development will occur via Alba (Labs ADA for blockchain applications), an arm of large book laboratories which should integrate standards previously introduced to the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The current expansion of the foundation in Brazil reflects its growing imprint in the region. “Our partnership with PUC-ROI marks the second collaboration of the Cardano Foundation with a Brazilian entity this year. Last month, we announced our partnership with Serpro, the largest public IT company in the world, and we collaborate with Petrobras, Latam in state development in Brazil, since 2023 ”.
At the time of the press, Ada exchanged $ 0.605.
