Summary
- Centrifugal, Janus Henderson and S&P Dji launched the first S&P 500 index fund under license
- The SPXA index will follow the S&P 500, making it available for DAOs and chain funds
The tokenization is becoming more and more common at Wall Street. On Thursday, September 25, Centrifuge announced the launch of the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500 Fund (SPXA). The fund is the first S&P 500 index fund authorized by S&P Dow Jones Indices, a leading index provider.
This decision represents an important step for active active world in crypto. The SPXA Fund will provide an exposure to the S&P 500 index in chain finance, DEFI and DAOS platforms. Merchants will have access to transparent properties, programmability and composability between the DEFI protocols.
“The references of traditional finance still shape the global economy, and there is no greater index than the S&P 500,” said Bhaji Illuminati, CEO of Centrifuge. “Indices are the best way to bring actions to the chain: they are simple, ready for guarantees and unlock liquidity in a way that individual titles cannot. SPXA is the next step to make each active asset in chain, accessible to investors worldwide, 24 hours a day. ”

Janus Henderson, one of the largest active asset managers in the world with 457 billion dollars in AUM, will serve as an under-investment manager for the fund.
“The launch of SPXA with Centrifugeuse is a natural progression of our blockchain strategy, bringing the world’s most important actions index to a new generation of investors,” said Nick Cherney, innovation manager at Janus Henderson. “It is the beginning of a broader effort to evolve our tokenization capacities and extend secure and effective access to global markets.”
The S&P Dow Jones, owner and administrator of the S&P 500 index, provides the SPXA tokenized fund with institutional legitimacy.
“Our collaboration with Centrifuge allows investors to obtain direct exposure to the S&P 500 index in a blockchain ecosystem which supports liquidity, transparency and interoperability,” said Cameron Drinkwater, product manager at S&P Dow Jones Indices. “Blockchain is a transformative opportunity for S&P DJI, and Centrifuge is a collaborator with a shared vision to build the future of financial products related to the index.”
