
The French authorities have announced new security stages for cryptographic entrepreneurs and their families. This decision comes after a series of violent attempts to kidnap industry figures. The officials aim to brake what they call a disturbing point in the attacks.
The government intensifies security
According to reports, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, offered priority access to the police emergency lines for people in the cryptography sector. Home security assessments will be available and security forces safety briefings will guide families on best practices. Retailleau said that these measures aim to “prevent, dissuade and embarrass any other attack.
High level attacks this year
Based on reports, three major incidents have shaken France in just a few months. On May 13, the attackers tried to seize the daughter and grandson of the CEO of Paymium, Pierre Noizat, in broad daylight.

On May 3, Paris police released a father of Crypto director who had been detained for several days in a kidnapping plot of 7 million euros – around 7.8 million dollars at today’s rates.
And back on January 21, David Balland, co-founder of the manufacturer of Wallet Hardware Ledger, was withdrawn from his home and held at night until a police raid obtained his release the next day.
Growing toll since 2014
Law application files show more than 150 flights or kidnappings linked to the crypto since 2014. Of these, 23 cases took place in 2025 only. This increase alarmed both managers and leaders in industry.
Many criminals follow potential targets through publications on social networks, meetings and public events before moving.

Expert advice
Bitcoin Cypherpunk Jameson Lopp warned against the peer trades with foreigners. He advises to display wealth on social channels or to wear crypto brand equipment in public.
His advice includes the sharing of assets between “hot” and “cold” storage, using regulated exchanges and hiring verified safety teams for high -risk individuals.
What comes then
Some industry initiates expect France to form a working group dedicated to cryptocurrency. Others believe that stricter prison conditions for ravisers of ransom could act as a means of deterrence.
Meanwhile, managers are likely to rethink how visible they are during conferences and online.
As the cryptography market develops, its attraction also to criminals. With these new measures, France hopes to keep one step ahead of those who consider digital assets as a quick way to make a ransom request.
The authorities say that they will continue to adjust their approach if necessary, to look at the figures and to listen to the families who feel exposed.
