The founder of Binance, Changpeng ‘Cz’ Zhao, denied the assertions of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that he concluded an agreement with the American authorities who would have seen him testify against the founder of Tron Justin Sun.
Sun also appeared to demystify the allegations of a Wall Street Journal article on Friday April 11, calling CZ “my mentor and a close friend”.

In an article on Friday, WSJ said CZ provides evidence against the founder of Tron Blockchain as part of the advocacy agreement in 2023 which he concluded with the American authorities.
Following the agreement with the Ministry of Justice (DoJ), CZ preceded spending four months in the American prison, when it was released in September 2024.
The article said that the leaders of Binance met officials of the Treasury Department in March 2023. According to anonymous sources, the discussion would have focused on means of loosening the surveillance of the United States government on the main exchange of cryptocurrency.
The WSJ sources also allege that Binance mentioned the exploration of a trade agreement with the Family Crypture Venture, World Liberty Financial. However, no agreement has been announced at the moment.

According to the same sources, the company’s managers have asked that the managers of the Washington Treasury Department suppress the monitor supervising the compliance of Binance with anti-money laundering laws (AML).
The objective of the Binance team was supposed to be aimed at restoring the company on the American market after being found guilty of having violated the same LMA laws, dating back to 2018.
As part of the meeting with the American authorities, CZ would have agreed to help prosecutors investigate Justin Sun. Sun is currently facing a meticulous examination of the dry and the Doj and has been a person of interest for some time.
In response to these rumors, CZ wrote on X, saying that “several people told me again that WSJ writes another piece of baseless success on me.”
CZ said that even if he wanted it, he couldn’t help the government as a witness. “They seem to have forgotten who went to prison and who did not do it. People who become government witnesses do not go to prison. They are protected,” he wrote on X.
