🎡 Global exposure for Ethereum with La Rural as Schellingpoint
For the first time, Devconnect presented a World Expo style experience, fully anchored in La Rural, one of the most iconic locations in Buenos Aires, where everything came together in a unique and immersive environment.
Inside La Rural, participants were able to discover:
- 8 thematic districts: DeFi, privacy, L2, decentralized social networks, hardware and wallets, AI, gaming and art
- 80+ exhibit teams showing real, working Ethereum applications
- 15 Community hubs organized by ecosystem groups
- 40 events hosted by independent teams
- Discussion corners, coworking areas and bookable meeting rooms
- Docking stations for new arrivals
- Food trucks accepting crypto payments
- Live music, cinema and football field with tournaments
This turned Ethereum into something you can browse. People tested apps, played on-chain games, tried new wallets, paid for food and drinks with cryptocurrencies, explored AI workflows, and met the teams building on Ethereum today.

📲 The Devconnect application: the guide to the Universal Exhibition
The entire experience was supported by the Devconnect app, which helped attendees navigate the massive room, view programming, create personal schedules, pay with crypto via the built-in wallet or add their own, complete quests, discover new apps, and collect POAP along the way. We have collaborated with several in-app web3 projects: Para, SimpleFi, POAP, WalletConnect, Base, Zapper, Zupass, AT Protocol, Peanut and ENS.
Application statistics
- 9,000+ connected users
- 16,000 POAP issued
- 14,000 Completed World’s Fair quests
- Crypto payment activity via SimpleFi

🇦🇷 Energy and local impact
Many visitors have fallen in love with Buenos Aires, its spring atmosphere and lively streets, the culture of mate, asados and steaks, ice cream, the energy of football, street art and the surrounding nature. Some have even stayed well beyond Devconnect.
Buenos Aires was the perfect location for Ethereum’s first global exposure, with Argentina being one of the most active crypto markets in the world, with around 20% owning cryptocurrencies, using them to save, protect against inflation, access loans and provide stability. Across the city, many providers accept cryptocurrencies for payments, and this familiarity made Devconnect feel like it was in the right place at the right time. Devconnect itself has also been shaped by contributions from local and regional Ethereum communities:
☀️ ETHCon Buenos Aires
ETHCon was one of the major Devconnect events and was organized by local communities SEED Latam, Crecimiento, Ethereum Argentina, ETH Kipu, Mujeres en Cripto and several regional partners.
- 4,000+ participants
- 60+ speakers including Vitalik, Santiago Palladino, city and Department of Education officials, and leading businesses like Mercado Libre, YPF, and Fiserv
- Discussions and panels exploring the impact of Ethereum in finance, gaming, AI, art, education and public infrastructure
🦙 Destino Devconnect
Starting in April 2025, we supported local initiatives through Destino Devconnect, a grant cycle designed to accelerate regional adoption ahead of Devconnect.
Results:
- 100+ supported events
- 14 participating countries through LATAM
🎓 Universities and students
Devconnect comprised one of the largest student and academic components in EF events history.
- 3,000+ students from local schools attended through a partnership with the Department of Education
- 45+ universities were involved
- 8 University-led sessions took place throughout the week at La Rural

Devconnect relies on community contributions:
- 200 volunteers helped make the entire week possible, coming from 40 countries, with 30% coming from African regions including Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
- 15 community hubs created thematic reception bases for different groups
- Contributors to the DIP created a diverse range of activations for the event
- Hosted Ecosystem Teams 40 events within La Rural and more than 500 parallel events throughout Buenos Aires: hackathons, workshops, meetings, hacker houses, parties, etc.
