“On the go” and “in the palm of your hand” are two things we’re used to hearing in an increasingly mobile world. Apps like Kraken Pro have set the standard for trading crypto from your smartphone.

Today we have something a little less mobile (but much more powerful) for you: Kraken Desktop, our native desktop app. With advanced features tailored to professional traders, Kraken Desktop is designed for any crypto trading strategy.

Kraken Desktop is built differently. While other desktop applications rely on a web-based architecture, we developed this application from scratch using Iced, a low-latency, low-memory graphics library built on Rust.

If you are already a Kraken Pro customer, you will be happy to know that Kraken Desktop integrates seamlessly with your Kraken Pro account, unlocking a range of new data analysis and trading tools to supercharge your strategy.

Kraken Desktop provides a very responsive trading interface with almost endless customization options. Whether you use Linux, Mac, or Windows, we think you’ll enjoy what you can do.

Look under the hood and you’ll find the basic architecture of Kraken Desktop: Rust. Haven’t you heard of it? Well, it’s basically a programming language known for simplifying your computer hardware while allowing software to run quickly and safely (meaning you won’t fry your computer’s motherboard by running multiple trading windows at once).

At Kraken, our Core Backend Dev team has also been working on a broader initiative to move more of our services to Rust to modernize existing tools. All this means two things: minimum latency and maximum reliability – two things we traders know. love.

Over the past few months, we’ve been rigorously testing Kraken Desktop with a dedicated group of beta testers. Throughout this process, we collected valuable feedback from active traders who appreciated the app’s responsive and lightning-fast interface.

Using their knowledge, we made several user experience and feature enhancements, fixing issues and ensuring that Kraken Desktop matches all the features of our web and mobile trading platforms.

The next round of Kraken Desktop beta invites will be released next week.

With Kraken Desktop, you get all Kraken markets in one place, plus the ability to display these markets in the way that best fits your strategy with our robust customization options. Adapt the interface to your individual trading style and share the layouts with your community. Since we all have our own preferences and strategies, this modular environment is perfect for those who like to put their own stamp on their trading desk.

We loaded Kraken Desktop to meet the demands of the most advanced traders:

  • Trade on over 800 Kraken markets
  • Advanced order types like iceberg, trailing stops and more
  • Specially designed technical analysis (TA) and drawing library
