The Securities and Exchange Commission will organize a round table on May 12 to discuss the growing role of tokenization on the financial markets.
The event, entitled “Tokenization – Moving Assets Onchain: Where Tradfi and Defi meet”, will take place from 1 to 5.30 p.m. at the agency’s headquarters in Washington, DC and will also be a live webcast, according to a press release.
Directed by Commissioner Hester Peirce, the round table will featured by Blackrock, Fidelity, Nasdaq, Robinhood and others.
The subjects include the evolution of capital markets through tokenized assets and regulatory considerations for their future use.
“Tokenization is a technological development which could considerably change many aspects of our financial markets,” said Peirce in the announcement.
The blockchain meets finance
The agenda includes two sessions: “Capital Markets 2.0”, moderate by Jeff Dinwoodie de Cravath, and “The Future of Tokenization”, led by Tiffany Smith of Wilmerhale.
Legal researchers, Crypto Society managers and asset managers will discuss how blockchain can integrate into traditional finances in current dry frames.
The SEC also announced a change of date for its next round table on decentralized finances. The discussion “Defi and the American Spirit”, initially scheduled for June 6, will now take place on June 9. Previous inscriptions remain valid.
The round tables occur in the middle of the increased commitment between regulators and the cryptographic industry.
During a separate meeting, the Ondo Finance tokenization platform presented its proposal to the working group on crypto asset asset assets, describing a regulatory framework for tokenized American titles and requiring rescue mechanisms to support innovation.
