Hi, I am Stephan Tual, and I am responsible for the adoption and education of Ethereum since January as CCO. I also direct our United Kingdom ÐV HUB, located at co-work in Putney (southwest of London).
I really feel privileged to be able to direct the effort on the communication strategy at ðV. For the very first time, we see the consumer public being real in the potential of decentralization. The feeling of excitement about what “could be” when I read for the first time the white paper of Vitalik on this fateful Christmas afternoon is now shared by tens of thousands of technologists, developers and entrepreneurs.
Thanks to the sale of ether, a group of intelligent and hardworking people is now able to work full time to resolve the technical and basic adoption challenges, and to provide a solution to 10 times the speed that an equivalent garage initiative would have taken. With Ethereum APIs supporting Gav’s vision for Web 3It is finally within the reach of the community to build decentralized applications without intermediaries. By democratizing access to Blockchain programmable technology, Ethereum authorizes software developers and entrepreneurs to have a major impact not only on the decentralization of the economy, but also on social structures, voting mechanisms and much more. It is a very ambitious project, and everyone has ÐV Feels a strong sense of duty to deliver this vision.
As part of our efforts, the technology is – of course – key, but the adoption too. Ethereum without DAPPS (decentralized applications) would return to a video game console without launch of titles, and, like any protocol, we expect the applications to be the real stars of the show. Here’s how we plan to pass the word and support developers in their efforts.
Education
Build a study program: We build an extended program adapted to teachers and self-learning at home, in hackathons and universities around the world. Composed of well -defined modules that progress over time in their complexity, our goal is to establish a learning standard which will of course be entirely free and 100% open source.
Content aggregation: For the moment, we know that the information on how to “penetrate” Ethereum is a little fragmented between the forums, wikis and various third -party sites. A subdomain in our website will be created in the coming months to easily access this precious information and in one place.
Produce tutorials, videos and articles: Tutorials are essential to learn a new set of languages and tools. By producing both videos and textual tutorials, we intend to give the community a point of view of initiates on best practices, structuring contract storage to take advantage of the new whisper P2P messaging system for example.
Codéacade type site: Not everyone likes to learn in a class environment, and some feel limited by linear tutorials. With an outing date coinciding with the launch of Ethereum, we associate ourselves with a company based in the United States to create a code of CodeAcademy type in a gamified environment, where you can learn at your own pace how to build DAPPs and their backend contracts.
University chapters: VItalik and I recently made a presentation at the University of Cambridge and Ethereum will participate in Hackathon on transparency November 26 at the University of Geneva. Encouraged by the enthusiasm that we have attended in the academic world, we work to directly support the Oxbridge Blocktech Network (OBN) in their efforts to build a network of chapters, first in the United Kingdom across Europe.
I am happy to announce that Ken Kappler has joined the British team to help these educational efforts. Many of you in London know Ken because it has been a semi-permanent element at all of our meetings and hackathons, helping behind the scenes. Ken, known as Bluechain IRCis also the writer behind http://dappsforbeginners.wordpress.com/ which will soon merge with our own education site.
Ken will direct a weekly “Ethereum” Ethereum “clinic to answer all the questions you may have with your current project. Times will be displayed on our Forums.
Dating
Encourage the creation of new meetings: We now have a large network of 85 meetings Around the world, which is an incredible realization but not enough to manage the overwhelming demand for regular catch -up in an appropriate format for local needs and culture. We intend to encourage the creation of new meetings in almost all countries and the main urban hubs.
Tools and support: In order to stimulate efforts to create and maintain such a large network of international meetings, we will provide tools to the managers of meetings to interact with each other, access the basic development team for video interventions or physical interventions and exchange information on speakers. These tools will of course be free to use and access.
Collaterals and places: For the most active meetings, Ethereum considers, if necessary, the use of small scholarships so that the leaders of the meeting in these “main places” do not have to deal with the complete costs of the collaterals and places. We will also work with our partners to help meetings to secure sponsorships and access to free locations to hold their mini-conferences.
World hackathon: From this week, the Ethereum workshops will slowly transform into appropriate hackathons. We work with wonderful places worldwide, the vast majority of which began as Ethereum Meetups, to organize a global hackathon with Eth Prix for the best DAPPS.
We are very lucky to welcome Anthony of Onofrio To conduct these very important initiatives. Anthony begins on the 10th of this month and will also cover the North American region from the community point of view – you probably already know it under the name of “texture”, its handle on most forums and canals.
I am incredibly proud that the exhibition of Ethereum in the community has been entirely organic since the first day. This was the result of major and long efforts to identify Ethereum projects in nature, by reaching out directly and by establishing a solid relationship with our user base. We have reached several key milestones, including more than 10,000 subscribers Twitter100,000 pages viewed per month on our website, similar numbers on our forums And the growth trend is only accelerating.
Historically, Ethereum has never used PR as a tool to increase adoption, based rather on word of mouth, meetings and conferences to pass the word. As media attention is now intensifying quickly, I am happy to welcome Freya Stevens to the team as public relations / marketing manager. Freya will help us create a shared media lead database, write articles and make complex technology acceptable to the general public while identifying solid history angles. Freya is based in Cambridge, in the United Kingdom.
Also in order to extend these initiatives, we are proud to welcome George Hallam to the team, aka Thehighfiveghostwhich recently published a investigation You can therefore let Ethereum know how much we do our job as guards and developers of the platform. George, as a key support for London communitywill already be familiar to many.
As part of these efforts, expect to see many more interactions on Reddit,, IRCDiscuss and of course our own forums. George will also help me identify the main projects based on Ethereum and to contact to see how we can better help information, connections and inclusion as guys in our weekly video updates, turned in our Putney studio.
In order to produce very high quality content, we also welcome Ian Meikle at London Hub. Ian is the creator of most video documents that you could have seen regarding Ethereum, including the superb video loop It was a staple food in many Ethereum meetings. Ian will take advantage of our studio equipment to create explanatory videos, interview key players in space and recording panels led by Vinay GuptaWho joins the Coms team as a strategic consultant.
In London and beyond our existing Signs, social and hackathons“Show and Tell” is planned for DAPP developers to present their work and receive comments, a model that we intend to promote internationally in the month.
And of course, last but not the least, expect a major updating on our website, with magnificent and clean content, practical examples of DAPP, a dynamic dating card and links to all our newly created assets and community contact points.

The question that we will continue to ask ourselves every day is how we support you, the community, by building DAPP Kick-Ass and by succeeding in your business on our platform.
