Ethereum developers emit a traction line proposal to increase the transaction speed

Ethereum’s main developers are pressure for a major technical change that could reshape the speed with which the network deals with transactions.

On June 21, Barnabé Monnot, one of the main contributors of Ethereum, suggested a new proposal, EIP-7782, which would half the time of the block of 12 seconds to 6 seconds.

According to him:

“The shorter slot times make Ethereum a better confirmation engine, which is undoubtedly one of its main value proposals for applications and rollers that register on Ethereum L1. Everyone benefits directly. “

EIP-7782 EIP advantages

He explained that the proposed modifications would improve the confirmation speed, reduce negotiation costs on decentralized platforms and create better conditions for cross protocols.

The proposal also includes adjustments at the time of several basic blockchain operations, such as certificate and aggregation windows.

By virtue of the EIP-7782, the slit of the block proposal would be narrowed from 4 seconds to 3. The certificates and the aggregations would move even faster, cut from 4 seconds to 1.5 each.

Monnot proposed that the PEI is the upcoming head of Ethereum at the next level of Glamsterdam. He said:

“There are several proposals for the restructuring of slot machines already made for Glamsterdam (EIPS 7732 and 7886), focused more on scaling, we want to use our Glamsterdam proposal as a place to highlight the value of shorter slots times and progress the conversation to their implementation.”

Meanwhile, this thrust for faster slot machines are aligned with the wider objective of the Ethereum Foundation to improve the performance of layer 1 of the network and refine the user experience.

Given this, Storm Slivkoff, a research partner at Paradigme, supports the proposal. He noted that latency reduction could be the most precious upgrade included in Glamsterdam, especially since the transaction costs drop below $ 0.10.

In such an environment, the increase in the size of the block gives decreased yields. Instead, improving the quality of the blocks becomes more critical.

Ethereum ecosystem growth

The proposal comes as the activity of Ethereum has new summits in an increasing institutional adoption.

According to Growthepie Data, more than 20 million active addresses interacted with the network last week, establishing a recording. However, most of this activity occurred on layer 2 networks, such as the base supported by Coinbase.

Thus, as Layer 1 developers of Ethereum now offer the central network faster and more efficient. In case of success, the reduction in the time of the proposed location could improve performance where speed, cost and conviviality count the most.
