The new co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, Tomasz K. Stańczak, says that Buterin’s proposals are supposed to arouse discussions and invite a meticulous examination concerning the objectives and future breakthroughs of the network.
In a recent article according to the previous proposal of Buterin on the replacement of the Ethereum virtual machine (ETH) by RISC-V to improve long-term scalability, Stańczak said that under the change of leadership, the Foundation will go into search of research and development to the implementation of layer 1, from the management of layer 2, optimization of user experience and interoperability.
This includes the improvement of the network under the new upgrades of the protocol, such as the next leveling of Pectra, Fusaka and Glamsterdam.
Consequently, the co-founder Ethereum Vitalik Buterin will play a relatively smaller role in the daily operational work of the network. Instead, Buterin will focus its efforts on network -related research initiatives.
“We have aimed, among other things, to release Vitalik’s time more for research and exploration, rather than daily coordination or crisis response. Whenever Vitalik shares ideas or communicates a direction, he accelerates major long -term breakthroughs, “said Stains.
Stańczak praised Buterin for his recent proposal on RISC – V and ZKVMS which, according to him, “advanced promising avenues”. In addition, he also said that Buterin’s proposals on confidentiality have helped to realign the community with the fundamental values of the network.
However, he took the opportunity to remind the members of the community that Buerin’s proposals have a significant impact, they are designed to trigger conversations and should not be treated as final decisions. In fact, he stressed that the community could very well refine the proposals or even reject them.
“I want to clarify that Vitalik’s proposals will always gain weight, but they are intended to start conversations and encourage progress in difficult research fields,” said Stains.
On April 20, Vitalik Buterin shared a proposal on the Ethereum Magicians forum where he pleaded to change the Ethereum virtual machine in favor of RISC-V, an overall architecture of open source instructions.
He thought that change could considerably improve the effectiveness of the network, in particular in terms of scale based on zero knowledge. The proposal was published only a few days before the last network upgrade, which should be posted on May 7.
