It is with sadness that we announce that Ming Chan, who has been executive director of the Ethereum Foundation for almost three years, leaves the Foundation. Since her arrival in 2015, she has played an essential role in the development and success of the Foundation. We will miss the leadership, commitment and integrity it has brought to the Foundation and wish to thank it for its dedicated service and many important achievements, in particular:

  • Several reorganization cycles for the Foundation, as well as the considerable improvement in efficiency and cost reduction
  • Establish relationships with IC3 and other university groups
  • Navigate and support the Foundation through multiple difficult challenges, including Hack Dao and Dos 2016 attacks
  • Supervise several difficult success forks, including Homestead and Metropolis
  • Supervise three successful Devcon events

To meet the current and future leadership needs of the Foundation, we have already completed our search for a worthy successor. As of February 1, 2018, Aya Miyaguchi will assume the role of executive director at the Ethereum Foundation. Aya is a veteran of the blockchain space and was recently managing director of Kraken Japan. It brings many years of experience in organizational leadership at the table and has a passion for non -profit organizations and social enterprises. We feel lucky to make her join us and welcome her warmly to her new role.

“Having been involved in different layers of the blockchain ecosystem, I am aware of the improvements that must occur at the central level of the Ethereum platform, and that these improvements can only occur with the support of a strong community.

We look forward to working with Aya while the Foundation continues to evolve and grow in the years to come. There are many exciting developments for our ecosystem on the horizon, and we are planning even larger breakthroughs in the coming days and nearby. Please join us to wish Ming a sincere farewell and to welcome Aya to the Ethereum Foundation.
