As previously announcedThe Holešky Testnet has reached its scheduled end -of -life date and will be shortly. The vast majority of the remaining validator’s nodes will be closed 2 weeks after the finalization of the Fusaka upgrade on Holešky. After that, Holešky will no longer be supported by teams of tests, tests or infrastructure.
After the launch of HOODI TESTNET In March 2025, infrastructure providers and stake operators had the opportunity to migrate their test operations.
Background
Holešky was launched in 2023 as the largest public test test in Ethereum, designed specifically to test the implementation infrastructure and large -scale validator operations. The network has served its objective, allowing thousands of validators to test the protocol upgrades, including the Dencun network upgrade And more recently, Pectra.
However, after the activation of Pectra Testnet in early 2025, Holešky experienced large leaks of inactivity that led to a large outing queue. While the network has recovered and finalized, the long outing process of Validator has made it impractical to test the life cycle of the complete validator within reasonable deadlines. This led to the creation and launch of Hoodi in March 2025, offering a new test environment without these constraints.
Migration path
Employed operators and infrastructure providers must migrate to Hoodwhich was launched specifically to approach the limits of Holešky. Hoodi provides a new set of validators, supports all the features of Pectra and will activate the future upgrades of the protocol, including the next Fusaka fork.
Application and tool developers who used Holešky should use Sepolia Instead, which remains the recommended past test for the intelligent contract and DAPP tests.
Current test landscape
After Holešky’s sunset, Ethereum’s Testnet ecosystem will consist of:
- Sepolia: Development of applications and tools
- Hood: Test of validator and supplier of jealization
- Ephemery: Light validator life cycle test with reset every 28 days
Look forward to
Holešky has provided valuable information on large -scale validator operations and has helped upgrade to the critical stress test protocol. These learnings directly informed Hoodi design and wider protocol test practices.
Thank you to all those who have helped run, maintain and test on Holešky in recent years!
