I'm following World (WLD) for almost a year, and I see Orbs are popping up in Latin America (obviously looking for myself) but they're all over the world at this point.
For those who don't know, Worldcoin gives you a World ID after you scan your iris using a device called an Orb. It's supposed to verify that you're a real human and then give you small WLD rewards for being part of the network. It's more simple than it sounds but there are all sorts of opinions about it (including ppl who just don't care).
The idea sounds good on paper because it lets you use digital identity for platforms without needing your personal info, and it could be useful for universal basic income. It can also be used for voting apps, airdrop filters, or login alternatives, so – good potential long-term.
But a lot of people complain about it because you're trading biometric data for coins, and there's not much you can actually do with it right now. Which I guess is fine for those who want long-term investments, but still kinda a red flag for others.
So what do you think? Is anyone here using it or planning to, and is there a point in giving your personal info right now?
