The Hedera Layer 1 blockchain (HBAR) has taken the top spot in crypto’s real-world assets (RWA) sector for recent development activity, according to new data from analytics firm Santiment.

Santiment shares its latest RWA development leaderboard, which tracks notable GitHub activity over the past 30 days. Hedera ranked first, surpassing other major projects in the sector.

“Here are the top crypto real-world assets (RWA) by development. Directional indicators represent the increase or decrease in each project’s ranking since last month:”

Blockchain oracle Chainlink (LINK) ranked second on the list, followed by Ethereum (ETH) layer 1 rival Avalanche (AVAX) in third and payments-focused blockchain Stellar (XLM) in fourth. IOTA (IOTA) climbed to fifth place, while Chia (XCH) slipped to sixth place. VeChain (VET), Lumerin (LMN), and Creditcoin (CTC) all moved up the rankings, ranking seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Injective (INJ) rounded out the top ten after dropping one place.

The crypto analytics company notes that its dev rankings exclude routine updates and rely on a proprietary methodology designed to highlight significant GitHub events. The company has previously stated that strong and consistent development activity can indicate that projects are under construction and are less likely to be abandoned.
