Tom Lee has quickly become one of Ethereum’s most prominent voices and the key figure for institutional trust in the network, said Michael Saylor, executive chairman of strategy, during his keynote address at BTC in DC, held this week at the Kennedy Center.
“Tom Lee has probably become the most visible influential spokesperson in the entire Ethereum ecosystem in a matter of months, if not weeks,” Saylor said. “Capital is flowing because they trust Tom Lee.”
“What’s interesting is that the whole movement is becoming commercialized, institutionalized, legitimized, rationalized, becoming a little bit older, a little more credible,” he added.
Discussing tokenization, Saylor said the industry is coalescing around a clear structure for how real-world assets will exist on-chain.
“There is an emerging consensus that the right way to tokenize a real-world security or asset is on a chain, a smart chain,” he said, “and there are three that are well known today. There’s BNB, Binance Smart Chain. There’s Solana and there’s Ethereum.”
Saylor added that proof-of-stake chains will host tokenized securities, currencies and brands, while Bitcoin’s proof-of-work network will remain the basis for global capital settlement.
