Co-founder Keone Hon marked the occasion with a strong message to the community: “Happy Complaint Portal Day! But please be safe.”
Hon’s announcement underscores both enthusiasm and caution. As users rush to claim their tokens, Monad wants everyone to slow down and protect themselves from phishing scams. “There will be a lot of fraudulent websites,” Hon warned. “Check where you are and how you got there before signing anything.”
Understanding the Claims Portal
This advice couldn’t come at a better time. Airdrop season has led to a surge in scam attempts, with cybersecurity firm SlowMist reporting a 45% increase in phishing attacks targeting wallet users in 2024. The official claim site is Claim.monad.xyz, and it will remain open until November 3. Hon made it clear that there is no need to rush: users will not receive any bonuses for claiming early. Instead, Monad encourages everyone to take their time and check each step before signing a transaction.

The process uses Privy, a privacy-focused authentication tool. Users can prove wallet ownership by signing a message with their Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) or Solana wallet. Privy also allows optional linking of social accounts, such as Twitter or Discord, to confirm identity. It is important to note that no funds move during this stage: it is simply cryptographic proof of ownership.
As a security measure, Hon advised EVM users to upgrade to Monad Testnet before signing, ensuring that only test tokens are involved. This practice minimizes risk and helps users verify that they are interacting with the correct network.

Additionally, Keone Hon issued a public warning after discovering that scammers had purchased Telegram ads masquerading as official Monad announcements. Hon explained that Telegram’s advertising system allows paid posts to appear on a public channel, even though it usually only features posts from the project itself. “It’s crazy that Telegram is serving content directly to a channel that otherwise only contains content from one party,” he said, confirming that Monad is working to remove false ads.

He reminded the community that the only valid link for the claims portal is Claim.monad.xyz, emphasizing that there is no urgency to act and that the portal will remain open for three weeks once live. Hon also clarified that the complaint portal is not yet open, urging users to check all links and wait for around 22 hours before visiting the official website.
