Lincoln, Neb. (KSNB) – The Nebraska legislature adopted the LB 609, also known as controllable Electronic Record Fraud Prevention Act.
The bill has a number of provisions that help protect citizens from Nebraska from scams.
The bill has various requirements in order to maintain money in the hands of citizens, in particular by requiring a license for operators of automatic cryptographic tickets, daily transaction limits, fraud warnings, transaction receipts to help the police, expense ceilings to prevent excessive charges and obliges the crypto identified as fraudulent.
The bill adopted the Legislative Assembly with 48 votes for, no against and one abstention.
According to the Nebraska AARP, the Nebraskans reported 239 complaints of scam in digital currencies in 2023, totaling approximately $ 14.6 million in losses.
Real losses are probably higher, as many victims hesitate to report the scams due to embarrassment.

The bill will need the governor’s signature to become the law.
