From the explosion of the scaling and Layer 2 ecosystems to the first Devcon in three years and The Merge, it’s been an exciting year for Ethereum and ethereum.org. We’ve delivered a ton of impactful features and content, with the help of thousands of incredible contributors.
Let’s dive into our highlights of 2022:
Translation program 🌎
It is essential to provide Ethereum educational content in as many languages as possible. Our team’s vision for ethereum.org. Our incredible community of contributors has come a long way since we have become a multilingual website In 2019 and 2022, we were pleased to see continued growth in the number of people contributing to our translation program and an increase in the number of readers in languages other than English.
2022 in figures
- 3,000 new translators have joined
- 4.6 million words translated
- 28% of visits are in languages other than English (double the 2021 record)
Help us translate ethereum.org
There was a lot to celebrate in 2022, but we still have a lot of work to do to bring Ethereum education to the non-English speaking world. If you speak a language other than English, check out the translation program and help make ethereum.org more accessible to everyone!
Join the translation program
Ethereum.org is the work of thousands of incredible contributors, and every contribution helps us build a great resource for the community. As with the translation program, ethereum.org has seen great engagement across many other community initiatives. In 2022, we reached 37,000 Discord members, an incredible 7,000 Crowdin members, and the huge milestone of 1,000 contributors in total on GitHub!
More precisely, between our Typescript Deployment And UI Library Migrationwe had over 50 code contributors 🤯!
For content, we also had dozens of contributors who helped us write new pages for ethereum.org. These included pages on blockchain bridges, DeSci, decentralized identityand many more!
We can’t stress enough how much we appreciate every contributor ❤️. If you’d like to contribute and help us build ethereum.org in 2023, Check out our Q1 roadmap.
Open Design System 📐
Since May 2022, we have been working on building the ethereum.org design system. It has taken a lot of work to get the design to where it is, and we are excited to share it. In Q1 2023, we will begin implementing the code to support the new design system.
One of the main goals of creating a design system is to give designers a way to contribute to the open source Ethereum community. In 2023, we will continue to work with the community to open up our design processes to the community.

Lots of new pages 🥳
2022 was the most successful year for new content on ethereum.org. We filled many of our content gaps and delivered informative, well-received pages that were read by over a million people.
There are too many pages to list here (now over 300 pages on the site!), but here are some of the highlights:
- Layer 2: Teaches users why Ethereum scales via rollups and how to integrate Layer 2.
- Run a node: Highlights the value of running a node (both for people running their own nodes and for Ethereum in general) and provides readers with step-by-step resources to get started running their own nodes.
- Staking Center:demystifies the staking process and the main benefits of different staking approaches.
- Introduction to Web3:explains the principles of Web3, its philosophy and its current limits.
- Energy consumption:shows Ethereum’s current and historical energy consumption and the impact of the merge.
In 2023, we will continue to work with our community and subject matter experts within the Ethereum ecosystem to fill our gaps and provide valuable content to our readers. If you would like to help us, contact us on Discord.
You can see what we’re working on next in our quarterly roadmapor you can create a problem if there is any content you would like to see added to ethereum.org.
Find a revamped wallet 👛
Another major milestone in 2022 was the redesign of our wallet content. A large portion of the traffic to ethereum.org comes from users looking to get their first wallet. On our previous wallet finder page, it took a lot of work to compare the different features offered by wallets, making it difficult for users to decide which wallet best suited their needs.
After several design iterations, we decided to create an e-commerce-like experience, allowing users to filter portfolios by specific features, compare features across portfolios, and select user personas with recommended features.

Learning Center and Learning Quiz 🧠
There’s a steady stream of new users trying to learn more about Ethereum. In 2022, we spent a lot of time creating a better experience for these users. Creating easy-to-understand content is a driving principle behind everything we work on, but these two initiatives were particularly focused on this subset of our users.
Learning Center
We have created the learning center because users needed help finding a starting point to learn about Ethereum without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information available and the lack of coherence across our website. The Learn Hub is a guided journey for users that starts with the basics of what cryptocurrencies are, guides them through their first steps on Ethereum with their first wallet, teaches them how the Ethereum protocol works, and how they can get involved in the ecosystem.
Learning Quiz
In addition to providing a structured learning path with the Learn Hub, we wanted to make learning Ethereum more fun for users, improve retention, and gamify the process. To do this, we created learning quizzes. Each quiz has multiple questions, with multiple potential answers with explanations after submitting an answer to help users understand when they are wrong.
We currently offer eight-page learning quizzes and plan to expand them with more features and pages in 2023. They’re a lot of fun! Check them out:
The fusion 🌳
The most important Ethereum event of 2022 was undoubtedly The mergerAs part of preparing for The Merge, we audited the entire website for content that would require changes after Ethereum’s move to Proof-of-Stake.
In addition to auditing and updating hundreds of pages of existing content, we created many new pages to reflect the changes, such as: Frequently Asked Questions About Proof of Stake, proof of stake vs proof of work, how blocks are produced on proof of stakeand many more.
For more details, check out the three major initiatives we worked on in connection with The Merge:
Other projects 🏃♂️
In addition to our core product on ethereum.org, we’ve spent a lot of time helping with other projects that are critical to Ethereum’s success. We won’t cover them all in detail, but you should check them out!
Looking to the future 👀
With so much accomplished, the ethereum.org The community has much to be proud of in 2022. Thanks again to the thousands of contributors who got involved!
Like Ethereum itself, we still have a long way to go if we want to continue creating the most comprehensive and inclusive resource for Ethereum on the internet.
For this, we need your help! We have just released Our Q1 Product Roadmap. Check it out and let us know how you’d like to get involved 🙏
