Ripple will now be able to expand the range of regulated payment services from its Singapore hub. On December 1, 2025, Ripple announced that the company had obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
For Ripple, this essentially means a strengthened position in Asia-Pacific. And broader institutional use of XRP and its stablecoin RLUSD in cross-border payments.
With this, Ripple is now part of a small group of global blockchain-focused companies holding a full MPI license.
Commenting on this development, Ripple President Monica Long said: “MAS has set a leading standard for regulatory clarity in the digital assets space, and we deeply appreciate Singapore’s forward-thinking approach. »
“Ripple has always taken a regulation-first approach, and Singapore is proof that innovation thrives when the rules are clear,” she added. “This expanded license strengthens our ability to continue to invest in Singapore and build the infrastructure that financial institutions need to move money efficiently, quickly and securely.”
This is not just “good news” from Singapore. It is a geopolitical signal.

Ripple will be able to expand regulated crypto payments for banks and businesses
MAS has approved Ripple Markets APAC, the company’s Singapore subsidiary. This will expand the scope of activities Ripple can conduct under its MPI license.
Ripple has licensed digital payment token (DPT) services since 2023. But the new authorization expands the categories of regulated payment services it can provide to institutional clients.
“The Asia-Pacific region leads the world in real-world usage of digital assets, with on-chain activity up approximately 70% year-over-year. Singapore is at the center of this growth.” said Fiona Murray, Ripple Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific. “With this expanded scope of payment activities, we can better support the institutions driving this growth by offering a wide range of regulated payment services, delivering faster and more efficient payments to our customers.
Big news from Singapore:
THE @MAS_sg has approved an expanded scope of payment activities for our Major Payment Institution License – enabling us to provide end-to-end, fully licensed payment services to our customers in the region.

What is Ripple Planning with UK? Company Chairman Meets UK Economy Secretary at Treasury
On November 12, 2025, Long met with the Economic Secretary to the UK Treasury, Lucy Rigby, to discuss how digital assets can boost the country’s competitiveness and growth. The meeting led to speculation about Ripple’s next move in the UK and the UK’s digital asset and blockchain ambitions. Long spoke to X to say that the UK “builds on its status as one of the world’s leading financial centres”.
Notably, Rigby’s role in financial regulation is not missed by the crypto community as it engages directly with Ripple. Meanwhile, Ripple director Cassie Craddock recently revealed that the company intends to capitalize on recent regulatory collaborations between the US and UK. Rigby said: “Exciting discussion with Monica Long from Ripple here in Singapore on promoting innovation in digital assets and our new dedicated support for global projects financial technology scaling in the UK.
After victories against the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ripple has applied to register as a crypto assets company with the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Key takeaways
-
Ripple’s original MPI license in Singapore covered regulated digital payment token services. This has enabled the company to offer crypto payment products and its “on-demand liquidity solution” to local and regional customers.
-
However, Ripple’s expanded approval comes amid what the company describes as an increase in on-chain activity in the Asia-Pacific region. Importantly, this is partly due to Singapore’s growing role as a digital asset hub.
