This affects users of the Gué Alethzero client on Windows. It is unlikely that users of the ETH CLI customer or not on the Windows platform will be assigned but must take detailed measures below. Users of the Geth Frontier command line interface are not affected.
Description of the problem: When defining confidentiality authorizations in the keys directory, the processing of insufficient errors can lead to the writing of key files; This can be widespread on the Windows platform. As such, current versions of Athzero and ETH may include identities for which there is no underlying key. The prevented functionality of the presale of Alethzero can lead to the automatically transfer of funds to these lost identities.
Solution: Users of the 0.9.39 version of Alethzero and earlier should not use the “Presentation of Presale” function; Users of the Alethzero and ETH 0.9.39 and earlier versions should not try to operate or receive funds in their addresses.
ETH and ALETHZERO users on all platforms should consider themselves as safe once they have confirmed that they have indeed the underlying key. To check (with your existing configuration) Execute:
Ethkey.exe – List
You can assume that all the addresses listed have a key behind them and do not suffer from this problem.
