The 4 main Bittensor TAO subnets

The 4 main Bittensor TAO subnetsThe 4 main Bittensor TAO subnets

Up 10% last month, Bittensor is helping bring the market back to normal. This is one of our favorite AI projects, and one of our favorites overall.

But you don’t have to invest only in the $TAO token. There are 126 subnets to choose from. All of them are doing something different in AI or AI infrastructure. You can assign your TAO to any of them for even greater growth opportunities. So today we’re looking at 4 of our favorite Bittensor subnets.

1) Trunking

We start today with subnetwork #64, Falls. This is arguably the largest of all subnets. This is also one of our favorite areas of AI. Computing power. Chutes offers serverless computing for AI, at scale. So it grows with you. AI companies and these training models love this because they only pay for the computing power they use. It’s a victory for them.

And decentralized AI infrastructure is a win for Chutes and for us. They already support common models such as:

  • OpenAI.
  • Deep search.
  • Qwen.
  • And MSFT AI (that’s Co-Pilot).

Many small, emerging companies take one of these inexpensive, less GPU-intensive models, like Deepseek, and train it. They can then use it for specific industry tasks such as sales, marketing or supply chain. There are currently 2,100 nodes around the world dedicating their extra compute to the network and earning money in exchange.

You can even choose which GPUs you want to use from different NVIDIA chip options. The Deepseek V3 is currently the most popular AI model on the network, dominating token usage. Many are testing and training it to launch their own agents and products.

Those who contribute their calculation are paid in $TAO, since it is the Bittensor network token. But from there, you can decide to allocate your $TAO to Falls. You do that here at TaoStats. You can see that Falls is the #1 subnet by value with a value of 356,000 TAO, or just under $100 million.

So this means that all other subnets, including the last three on today’s list, are smaller and firmly in the small cap market value category.

2) Lily

Next we have Lium, which is subnet #51. Like Chutes, Lium is a GPU marketplace. And as with Falls, most of the opportunities are the same.

You can choose which NVIDIA GPUs you want to process your AI data on and even rent them by the hour if you want to run a short-term test. This type of flexibility is invaluable for a newer project.

Like Chutes, those who rent their computer, since it is a p2p network, are paid in $TAO. There is an important difference from Falls if you are bullish on GPU markets and how they apply to AI and machine learning projects. Value.

Lium offers many of the same things and is half the market value of Falls. Instead of $100 million, the lium’s value is $51 million.

3) Ridges

Ridges is subnet #62. His specialty is training AI agents. This is agent specific. The training here is not that of an AI model like Claude to do what you want. This is specific to training autonomous AI agents.

Over the past week, 32 new agents have been brought online to be tested and evaluated by the Ridges team. By the way, there is a prize pool of $18,000 that agents can win for their best performances. Ridges also benefits from outside investment from one of the largest treasury companies DAT or digital assets from Bittensor. The Stillmark fund invested in Ridges last month.

Ridges is THE Bittensor leader for agent training. Its current worth is just over $45 million, placing it third among all subreddits. Complex topics like agent training are one of the reasons people avoid Bittensor and why they avoid Ridges. Their complexity is your opportunity.

4) Targon

Our last subnet today is Targon. Targon is subnet #4. So it’s been a while. Targon is also present in the computing market. But there are differences here and all three markets on today’s list can be winners. You can rent computing power or even your own entire server inexpensively. There are 2 major differences that we can point out right away.

First, they have their own network, TVM. This is the Targon virtual machine. In it you can create and test privately. This is without others seeing or knowing what you are doing or with how many GPUs. This is ideal for stealth projects, side projects, and those that aren’t yet ready to roll out to the public.

And that brings us to the second big difference. Confidentiality. Here you can do confidential AI. This is something you CANNOT do anywhere else. As a reminder, confidential calculation means that calculations can be done privately or off-chain, bringing the results back on-chain. Either way, it’s much more private than seeing everyone’s transactions and computational activities.

This is a union of 2 of the most dynamic sectors of our industry. AI and privacy. And the fact that it’s only valued at $45 million looks like a steal. Osmosis, the Cosmos DEX, is currently operating in maintenance mode and is basically a dead project.

Osmosis just experienced one of the worst multi-year declines in crypto:

And he has the same value as Targon right now. This seems crazy. Targon is expected to rise 5-10x here in an AI bull market. We’d be even more surprised if it didn’t happen, given its potential and the quality of its execution.
