We are excited to announce the return of the Devcon Scholars program for Devcon Southeast Asia! Bringing together creators from diverse geographies and disciplines, the Devcon Scholars program offers more than just a scholarship to attend Devcon: it aims to build a community focused on co-learning and co-creation, connecting Ethereum to other worlds, and pushing the boundaries of Ethereum. This year, we are looking to welcome up to 100 scholars in four categories: (1) Ethereum community organizers, (2) law students and legal professionals, (3) artists and science fiction writers, and (4) other creators.

What to Expect as an Academic
The scholarship program will start in August and end after Devcon at the end of November.
Here’s what selected scholarship recipients can expect:
- Financial support:Based on individual need, fellows are provided with financial assistance for accommodation, airfare, visa application, per diem and/or ticket to Devcon. Note: The level of financial need will not influence the selection process. Those who do not need financial assistance are also eligible.
- Pre-Devcon Community and Programming:Beyond financial support, the Devcon Scholars program focuses on building lasting relationships, mentorship, and a space to deepen existing skills and knowledge. Online sessions will be held where scholars will meet, learn together, and prepare for their Devcon experience.
- Devcon:I had an amazing Devcon week in Bangkok, Thailand.
- After Devcon:After Devcon, each fellow will submit a learning artifact – a free-form creation that expresses their learning and experience in the medium of their choice.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be eligible for the Devcon Scholars program, applicants must be:
- A new participant at Devcon
- Able and willing to dedicate approximately three hours per week over a three-month period, to attend online sessions, complete assignments, etc.
We are looking for candidates in the four categories in the table below. Note that candidates can apply in multiple categories and we strongly encourage candidates from Southeast Asia and other underrepresented communities within the Ethereum ecosystem to apply.

Ethereum Community Organizers | This class will bring together a diverse group of Ethereum contributors who are advancing the Ethereum ecosystem through active community engagement. This cohort is dedicated to recognizing and supporting established and emerging Ethereum community leaders and organizers who are actively working with local communities in blockchain-related fields. This program includes a series of online meetups and brainstorming sessions for scholars to learn more about the Ethereum community and values, as well as opportunities to meet and interact with other community organizers from around the world. | (1) Ethereum Community Leaders as well as (2) Community leaders in blockchain related fields (e.g., open source software, cryptography, economics, and data communities; broader developer communities). |
Law students and legal professionals | This class is designed to develop a new generation of skilled legal and technical professionals who are committed to the values of the Ethereum ecosystem and understand the importance of open source work to enhance the Ethereum public good. The program offers community engagement, technical training, specialized legal sessions, and mentorship from the Ethereum Foundation’s legal team. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the ecosystem, technologies, and law surrounding Ethereum, and will be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the infinite garden. | (1) Law students: Currently enrolled in law school; Demonstrated interest in Ethereum technologies and its legal implications; and Involvement in relevant extracurricular activities (such as blockchain clubs, blog posts, and legal articles) are a plus.
(2) Early or mid-career legal professionals: Up to 10 years of professional legal experience; proven experience in legal research, advocacy, or practice related to financial technology or regulation; and demonstrated interest in Ethereum, evidenced by prior work, publications, or involvement in blockchain-related legal initiatives. |
Cohort of science fiction artists and writers | This cohort brings together a diverse group of artists and writers to express the culture, values, and essence of Ethereum’s Infinite Garden through their art. This program includes a series of talks, practices, and critiques, allowing you to collaborate with other artists and writers, while expanding the vision of the Infinite Garden. The program culminates in an exhibition at Devcon. | (1) All media follows: This track includes artists from all media including, but not limited to: music, dance, visual arts, theater, poetry, and more.
(2) Career of science fiction authors: This track focuses on science fiction writing and envisioning what the future of the infinite garden might look like and the use cases for this technology. |
Other manufacturers | This category is for developers and other builders from various regions and disciplines who want to push the boundaries of Ethereum. No knowledge of Ethereum is required. | Everyone is welcome to apply. |
