The Ethereum Foundation announced the distribution of more than $ 32 million in grants during the first quarter of 2025.
According to the May 8 update, funding was issued through its ecosystem support program and spread over 94 projects. Although the report has categorized the recipients by theme and the area of development, it did not disclose the specific grant amounts for each initiative.
Meanwhile, this marks a significant increase of 63% compared to the $ 11.6 million awarded in the last quarter of 2024, reporting a greater commitment to the growth and improvement of the Ethereum ecosystem.
The subsidies of the Ethereum Foundation focus on the community and education
The largest share of subsidies went to projects in the community and education category, with 32 initiatives receiving funding. These included research, workshops, conferences and bootcamps to promote the learning and commitment of the network.
The emphasis on the foundation on awareness and community development in education shows its efforts to improve the understanding of Ethereum users and participation in ecosystems.
Meanwhile, the Foundation awarded 16 subsidies to the experience and tools of developers. Certik, a blockchain security company, received two subsidies from the beneficiaries of this category.
Certik works to simplify the process of checking the ZKVM (Zero-Knowledge Virtual Machine) circuits. The company’s efforts include improving modular arithmetic operations and optimization of scenarios where several values are stored in a single field element.
The other categories of important subsidies included cryptography and evidence of zero knowledge, with 14 sustained projects.
The consensus layer received seven subsidies, while the execution layers and the growth of the protocol and the support categories were each supported by five initiatives. General growth and support have obtained four subsidies, with two other allocated to indirect financing.
The remaining 10 projects were awarded in the “Other” category. This category has funded entities focused on decentralization, in -depth research on stablecoins and those working in the integration of the traditional financial system in Ethereum.
In particular, L2Beat, a prominent layer 2 data aggregator, has also received a subsidy. This award is part of the continuous financial support of the Ethereum Foundation to the activities of providing data from the platform, which are considered essential to the transparency and the scalability of layer 2 of Ethereum.
