The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled a security competition of $ 2 million designed to strengthen its next Fusaka upgrade.

Announced on September 15, the initiative invites researchers from around the world to audit the upgrading code base. The awards will be distributed to participants who discover vulnerabilities before upgrading the upgrade.

EF explained that the competition is structured as a four -week event organized on the Sherlock Testnet, from September 15 to October 13. To encourage early participation, the results reported the first week will receive double points, while those of the second week will earn a 1.5x multiplier.

The Foundation stressed that this time sensitive to time guarantees a maximum examination at the critical stages of upgrading development.

EF revealed that Gnosis and Lido co -sponsored the initiative, contributing to $ 100,000 and $ 25,000 respectively.

According to the Foundation, their participation shows the participation of the broader ecosystem in the Ethereum upgrading process, where each layer of developers, validators and end users.

However, not all observers are convinced that timing is ideal for audit.

Christine Kim, former vice-president of research at Galaxy Digital, wondered if it was prudent to launch an audit competition while the developers still identify bugs on fusaka adnets.

Fusaka upgrade

The Fusaka upgrade will bring a range of technical improvements which aim to stimulate the scalability and the flow of Ethereum transactions without compromising the effectiveness of the network.

At the heart of the update, features such as PEER data availability sampling (Peerdas) to rationalize data distribution, revised gas limits to optimize refined Blob performance and Blob parameters designed to manage higher transaction volumes.

However, the imminent update was faced with significant challenges, which arouses fear of delays.

This pushed Ethereum developers to clarify the deployment calendar during the last development call for all the main ones.

They explained that if a main activation date remains undecided, the upgrade calendar depends on the progression of testnets deployments.

According to the current plan, the upgrade would be deployed on Holesky on September 29, followed by Sepolia on October 13 and Hoodi on October 27.

Following this, they stressed that Mainnet activation will only progress once all the tests are successfully upgraded and that the Devnet-5 analysis confirms that the network works as expected
