The district administration for a city in India has digitized all the land files dating from the 1950s and stored them on the avalanche blockchain in an evolution towards transparent and infiltrated land governance.
On March 6, the Dantewada district administration of Chhattisgarh, India, announced that it had digitized more than 700,000 land files via the Office of Land Records. The digitized files were secured on the avalanche blockchain in collaboration with the startup of Indian blockchain Legitdoc by Zapple Labs.
The Indian Administrative Service officer (IAS) Mayank Chaturvedi, who is the Dantewada district collector, stressed the importance of the initiative:
“For decades, our citizens have been faced with significant delays in access to their land files, the verification sometimes taking weeks. By scanning these recordings and securing them on the blockchain, we have made sure that they are easily accessible and cannot be falsified. »»
As part of the initiative, the government has installed kiosks in all sub-realies of the city, where citizens and government officers can access land information. To guarantee the confidentiality of sensitive information, prior authorization is required for the application.
Addressing Cointelegraph, the CEO of Legitdoc, Neil Martis, said: “The request is an authorized request in which the recordings are accessible via Tehsil level income agents (subdistrict).”
The application of blockchain -based land folders allows the agent in charge to search for land properties and download and visualize digital recordings on the blockchain.
Consequently, several types of government files, such as B-1 forms (elevator installation), rights files, intrigue registers, property files and cadastral cards, can be viewed and verified on blockchain.

Devika Mittal, Avalanche India Avalanche Consultant, told Cintelegraph:
“Avalanche is honored to support the Office of Land Records, Dantewada in this revolutionary stage, ensuring confidence and transparency on the scale of citizens’ lakhs. Blockchain is the way for the digitization of terrestrial records, and Chhattisgarh is at the forefront. »»
The project was led by Jayant Nahata, IAS, who previously was subdivisional magistrate (SDM) in Dantewada and is currently CEO of Dantewada Zila Panchayat. He said:
“This initiative is revolutionary because it has led to end -to -end digitization and the check -in -edge of blockchain of all land files since the 1950s, guaranteeing the security of documents, reduces legal costs and, above all, ease of access to the common citizens of Dantewada.”
In addition to the eradication of manual research of land files, tribal communities and farmers in the region are able to obtain property files and reduce disputes.
Legitdoc previously helped various blockchain initiatives at the Indian state level involving the program and verification of caste certificates, diploma certificates and competence certificates, among others.
