Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a subject of discussion for the governments and opinion leaders of the world since Chatgpt emerged in late November 2022. Although some people question the ramifications of AI becoming a pillar in society, others adopt front technology.
Recently, the Romanian government has unveiled a new AI chatbot, Ion, created to source the concerns and opinions of communities to develop political recommendations based on data collected.
Cointelegraph spoke with Sabin Dima, the founder and CEO of Humans.ai – the company behind Ion – to better understand what the government integration of AI could mean for the communities it serves.
Dima began by highlighting the strength of AI, comparing it to nuclear energy in the sense that it can “be an atomic bomb or a nuclear power plant, depending on the frame”.
“The potential advantages of AI are a substantial exploration and more in -depth exploration of its request in the public sector is justified to improve public services, policies and improve the life of citizens.”
Using the ION initiative as an example, Dima explained that he and his team essentially asked the Romanian people to train AI, which started with zero data.
According to the CEO of Humans. The demand experienced nearly a million visits and “hundreds of thousands of interactions” during the first week.
“Ion has this competence to absorb a huge amount of information and fill this gap between people’s opinions and the government.”
DIMA said that AI could “modernize” the data collection process on the needs and commitment of citizens to help governments around the world make more informed and “based on evidence” political decisions.
“By kissing AI in a responsible manner,” he continued, “we can transform politicians to better serve our societies.”
Romania is also one of the 27 Member States of the European Union, which is currently in the process of finalizing the law on artificial intelligence for generative AI tools.
Legislation includes directives for developers, a system for classifying risk tools that AI tools arise and, after the recent voting series, a new ban on public use of biometric surveillance and police.
Dima commented on the next regulations, saying that they are generally “welcomed” by industry and that ethics should play a major role in the development of AI. In the case of the ion initiative, he said:
“We represent the Romanian people, which is a huge responsibility on our shoulders.”
According to DIMA, to best serve the public with AI, the team consults an independent ethics council including online experts and researchers in the field, and only forms the model on the information that has been proactively shared by citizens.

Therefore, when civil servants have “conversations with data”, it can represent the public more precisely. “They speak with Ion as if they were talking with 90 million Romanians,” he said.
Other governments around the world also plan to regulate and use technology, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany, among others.
Humans.ai is launching a new blockchain ecosystem for the deployment of AI, which, according to DIMA, can create an “environment without confidence” where the property of the properties of AI or AI, like the vocal tracks, is “inconstable”.
He said that AI, combined with blockchain, will help create a concept of “proof of human”, proving that there is a human on the other side of what is done.
