According to blockchain investigator ZachXBT, several Trust Wallet users experienced unauthorized fund withdrawals over the past few hours as assets were drained from their addresses without approval, with more than $7 million drained.
However, the occurrence and timing of the incident has raised concerns as it follows a recent update to Trust Wallet’s Chrome extension released on December 24.
The data shows a massive number of transfers between affected wallets, with a peak of activity concentrated within hours of the updates being deployed.
According to Trust Wallet, the incident only affected version 2.68 of the browser extension and advised users to disable it and upgrade to version 2.69 immediately.
However, mobile-only users and all other extension versions are not affected.
