MEET MIGHT & MAGIC FES, a next card game with trade inspired by the Might and Magic universe. Unlike previous Ubisoft NFT titles – which, at the very least, were suspended from shadows and gave us something to look at and laugh – Fates was announced and unpublished, which makes it impossible to say what the game is even – no gameplay, no graphics and no history to say.
According to the official description of the Fates website, the game will present your standard card game mechanisms: players can build decks by combining creatures, spells, artefacts, buildings and heroes of various power and magic factions, challenge other players and extend their trading cards collections, playing or opening recall packs.
The warning lies in this last part of trading and possession of cards. Although Ubisoft IP, the game is developed in partnership with Immutable, a cryptocurrency company that makes blockchain games and NFT. According to questions and answers of the game, players will be able to exchange their cards using the unchanging blockchain and have them as NFTS, not only adding to the growing Ubisoft battery of Web3 Sols, but also to make the first power and magic title in 11 years per game of blockchain – not exactly a return that we hope.
Interestingly, it seems that by 2025, Ubisoft finally began to realize that the overwhelming majority of players absolutely hate the idea of blockchain game and tried to prevent the reaction in a preventive way by emphasizing the “web3 layer of Magic Fates which unlocks the digital property” is an optional feature.
