Key notes

  • The co-founder Ethereum has unveiled a new path to maintain the confidentiality of the network.
  • The released roadmap focuses on four key areas limiting a complete revision of the chain.
  • The released roadmap can be implemented without basic modifications to the job.

The co-founder Ethereum Vitalik Buterin proposed a detailed plan to improve the confidentiality of users on the blockchain without modifying its central structure. The roadmap was shared on April 11 via the Ethereum Magician forum. This is like one of the latest direct proposals of Ethereum Innovator to improve the chain’s overall functionality.

Vitalik Buterin’s roadmap for Ethereum confidentiality

As detailed on the Magicians Ethereum forum, Vitalik Buterin revealed that the roadmap is intended to make Ethereum everyday

He mentioned that the plan will focus on four major areas. They include private onchain payments, limited anonymity in decentralized applications, private data readings and network protections.

Currently, the public design of Ethereum allows anyone to trace the activity of a known address. As he pointed out, a single portfolio can reveal the complete history of a user’s transactions, the application they use and with whom they interact. Buterin stressed that if this opening takes care of confidence and security, it exposes too much personal data.

However, Co-founder Ethereum recommends that portfolios like Metamask and Rabby adopt integrated confidentiality tools such as Railgun and Privacy pools to solve this problem. According to him, they can give users a default armored balance and private transfer options.

Likewise, a key element of the roadmap is to use different addresses for each application rather than counting on one in all activities. Vitalik Buterin admits that this has some discomfort, but is the most effective way to dissociate user actions on various platforms.

He added that the transfer of Ethereum and other tokens between the portfolios of a user should also be deprived by default, which supports the design of an addition by application.

However, the Buterin roadmap is structured to avoid making changes to the underlying protocol of Ethereum. Instead, he wants portfolios and developers to adopt these features as part of the normal user experience.

Calls for immediate action on Ethereum confidentiality

As indicated in the plan, Buterin also discussed how users can protect their data from network exposure. He suggested that portfolios are running between several RPC nodes and itinerary requests via mixed, confidentiality tools that obscure the metadata of the sender and the recipient, a bit like a VPN.

He suggested starting with confidence execution environments (TEE) for short -term cryptographic confidentiality. Thereafter, there may be a passage to a private recovery of information (PIR) for stronger protection.

To reduce user costs, Buterin wishes to apply an aggregation of evidence, a method where several transactions share a single proof onchain. This helps keep privacy without becoming too expensive for regular users.

He also encouraged the adoption of new standards like Focla (Fork-Choice applied to inclusion lists) and EIP-7701. These innovations allow confidentiality protocols to operate without counting on centralized relays.

Vitalik Buterin urged developers and wallet creators to act now instead of waiting for major protocol changes. The next leveling of Ethereum, Pectra, will be launched on May 7 and will introduce the abstraction of native accounts.

As indicated previously by Coinspeaker, the Pectra upgrade recently reached the purpose of the Holesky Testnet after overcoming previous disturbances. However, the co-founder of Ethereum stressed that the roadmap for privacy is not based on it.
