So far for the November market we are in a situation where we don’t know whether to laugh or cry. And now the entire market is concerned. That’s why it’s a good time to get back to basics. Let’s look at who’s building. What they are building. And what are the real growth opportunities. They are there. Walrus in the Sui ecosystem is a clear example of a huge growth opportunity with direct involvement in AI and machine learning for its decentralized storage solution.
Let’s see what Walrus did during this eventful month for the market.
Hackathon Walrus Haulout
One of the first updates underway is the nearly month-long hackathon that Walrus is offering, with over $100,000 in prizes for winners. Besides the size of the prize pool, most industry followers know that hackathons often take place over a weekend. The idea is to find a part of a product or service that needs updating and simply create it. After all, you can only build so much in 48 hours.

Submissions are now open 🧑💻
It’s time to build with data.
10 days, 4 tracks and a whole new frontier of on-chain innovation – powered by Walrus, Seal and Nautilus.📅 Registrations close on November 16 pic.twitter.com/LrcBXUr857

But this started on November 6. Registrations just closed on the 16th. And next week, the results will be published. The variety and specific nature of what Walrus is looking for in this hackathon is also different.
They allow people to choose from one of 4 tracks
- Data economy and markets
- AI and data
- Provably authentic (like a trusted oracle or provenance service)
- Privacy and security
Since two of these areas, AI and privacy, are very important topics, it is possible that these areas will dominate the hackathon. Still, all four bring something valuable to the Walrus ecosystem and help show people how efficient this decentralized storage is.
SuiConnect at DevConnect (Tuesday afternoon)
Buenos Aires! 🇦🇷
The Walrus team will be at Sui Connect on Tuesday – come find us and see what we’re up to.

Both Walrus and Sui will be in Buenos Aires for DevConnect. It’s a guaranteed great time in a beautiful location if you’re lucky enough to be there. These events are a great way to meet builders and hear what’s happening in the projects themselves.
Cloud Flare Down
On November 18, we experienced a global Cloudflare outage. Apparently, this was already the fifth time this year that such a breakdown had occurred. Events like this only prove that decentralized infrastructure beats a centralized version. Any day, really. Walrus offers a great alternative to centralized giants like AWS. Or, in this case, Cloudflare.
Cloudflare is down again, it’s like the 5th MAJOR internet outage of 2025.
Very scary moments…

Baselight integration
Baselight is like your AI co-pilot for data analysis. You load your dataset and it helps you analyze it instantly. It’s very powerful. They need data storage that stores lots of data quickly and easily, like Baselight datasets for their clients. Additionally, they need the fast and secure user access controls that Walrus provides so that users can easily get what they need from the data.
It’s a big match, and there’s no doubt that Baselight and Walrus will benefit from working together.
Walrus does more with AI
This partnership shows one of the directions Walrus plans to take in the future. And unsurprisingly, it’s AI. AI needs tons of storage space and computing power. When it comes to storage, AI companies need to store their models and train them. Then, they also need to store the datasets they use to train the models, as well as the datasets for their paying customers. That’s a LOT of data.
The verifiable AI control plan on Sui helps keep AI accountable.
Every AI action can now prove:
✅ What data he accessed
✅ What rules he followed
✅ What it actually didBuilt on Walrus + the Sui stack 🦭

Walrus and Sui are building the “verifiable AI control plan” together. This is a complicated way of building a system that shows an AI agent does what it is supposed to do and completes the task. And, just as importantly, it doesn’t do more than the tasks it’s supposed to do. This makes it possible to maintain the liability of agents and their manufacturers against any malicious or accidental event. We’ll soon see more of these types of applications for AI agents.
Conclusion
Walrus does a lot of good things. What real builders do. And then market conditions get as bad as they are today, it reminds us that there are projects that are actually building something that people need. Projects that have real utility. Walrus is one of these projects. Check out Walrus today on their website or on X for their latest updates.
