Yuga Labs chooses OpenSea as its official NFT marketplace

In 2025, OpenSea has evolved from a primarily non-fungible token marketplace platform to a multi-digital asset trading platform, and many non-fungible token projects are moving there to access its new features and large user base. Yuga Labs, the digital assets company and NFT team behind the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club non-fungible token series, is the latest project to endorse OpenSea. Yuga Labs has chosen OpenSea as the official marketplace for Bored Ape NFT collections.

Bored Ape NFTs are finally coming home

In an October 14 blog post, Yuga Labs, through its Bored Ape Yacht Club X account, confirmed that it has chosen OpenSea as its official non-fungible token marketplace. “In the beginning, OpenSea and Yuga Labs helped define what digital ownership could mean for communities and collectors. Today, this shared vision brings us together as the exclusive market partner for BAYC, Otherside and Yuga’s other collections,” explained the OpenSea spokesperson.

Launched in 2021, Yuga Labs is a renowned blockchain technology company that creates and manages non-fungible token collections, gaming projects, and metaverse experiences. He is best known for the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection and has expanded his portfolio by releasing more NFTs, including the Mutant Ape Yacht Club and Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs. The company also built Otherside, a metaverse project that allows crypto users to interact and play games. Yuga Labs is also a major force behind the ApeCoin (APE) ecosystem.

On the other hand, OpenSea is the largest non-fungible token marketplace in the NFT market in terms of sales volume and users. The OpenSea NFT marketplace relaunched as “OS2” in mid-2025, integrating trading of NFTs and fungible crypto tokens. The new version is designed for cross-chain trading, meaning a user can purchase an Ethereum NFT with tokens from another chain and supports 19 blockchains. This innovation has made the OpenSea NFT marketplace platform attractive to many NFT projects, including Yuga Labs.

Yuga Labs and OpenSea NFT integration

The OpenSea NFT marketplace began its business journey a few years before Yuga Labs was even established. The two companies strengthened their relationship during the historic market rally in 2021. The commercial success of the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT series in April 2021 significantly increased OpenSea’s visibility. At the time, OpenSea became the largest NFT marketplace in terms of commercial sales volume.

OpenSea and Yuga Labs parted ways in August 2023 after OpenSea disabled enforcement of royalties to creators. OpenSea launched its Operator Filter in November 2022, allowing creators to restrict sales of non-fungible secondary tokens only to marketplaces that charge royalties to creators, thereby filtering out platforms like Blur, a leading platform in the NFT marketplace. At the time, Yuga Labs even threatened to remove all of its NFT collections from the OpenSea NFT Marketplace. Previously, Yuga Labs made Magic Eden its official NFT marketplace.

Meanwhile, Bored Ape NFT creator Yuga Labs joins Igloo Inc., the team behind Pudgy Penguins, the globally recognized non-fungible token collection comprising a fixed set of 8,888 penguin birds hosted on the Ethereum blockchain network, which recently made OpenSea its official NFT marketplace. Toast, the digital asset company behind Good Vibes Club, a globally recognized non-fungible token collection featuring a fixed set of 6,969 NFTs, has also made OpenSea its official NFT marketplace.
