Suzanne Syz helps change the jewelry game.

The jeweler based in Geneva is associated with Swiss Tech Foundation Origyn to create digital certifications via the blockchain for 1,001 of his pieces, one of the first to do so. Syz follows in the footsteps of larger designers such as Chopard, Cartier and Tiffany & Co., who all use technology to strengthen the authenticity and traceability of their luxury products. Although these companies only use digital verification for certain outings, Syz will be one of the first jewelry to certify all of its collection on the blockchain.

This practice becomes more and more popular. Surveillance brands such as Vacheron Constantin and Breitling have relied on the blockchain to authenticate their watches since 2019, greeting technology as anti-frovals and incorruptible. Origyn is one of the many companies that strives to digitally verify the origin and the property of high value and real world assets such as fine arts, gold and jewelry.

Syz said in an interview with the founder of Origyn, Gian Boschler, that this technology is the future of luxury authentication.

“This is the solution to our problems today,” said Syz. “What else do we have that gives you a 100% warranty than what you buy is what you want to buy?”

Each of the 1,001 pieces of Syz, appreciated by collectors, including Elizabeth Taylor and the Princess Gloria von Thurn und taxis from Germany, receives a secure and falsifying digital passport which protects its value and is asking for its inheritance – a departure from the way the luxury pieces are generally documented, valued and collected via physical documents.

Some of Suzanne Syz’s work as a designer focused on the congruence of jewelry and fine arts.

“The blockchain allows disintermediation,” said Boschler. “Certification and recording have always been controlled by people. What you want is equanimity and equity so that everyone can have access to this inscription. ”

Each blockchain -based certificate contains biometric data, property and rich media history to create a link between physical objects and their digital recordings. This new approach to the authentication of luxury products could be particularly useful in the event of loss, theft or commerce. The adoption by Syz of Blockchain is a “natural evolution in its pursuit of originality and excellence”, according to the brand’s press release.

The jeweler is celebrated for his unique and singular pieces, often made up of titanium and aluminum and never manufactured only once. And now, with the introduction of digital certification, its parts can be followed and easily verified because they change hands for future generations.
