TLDR

  • Google Play now prohibits cryptographic portfolios without license – even non -guardians.
  • Crypto wallet applications must obtain a license or disappear from the Play Store.
  • The new Google rules lock the self-castody cryptography applications without license.
  • Non -guardian wallets struck by the new repression of Google licenses.
  • The rules of Mica and Fincen are now necessary for all cryptographic portfolio developers.

Google Play Store has applied new license rules for Wallet Crypto applications in 15 countries, including the United States and the EU. The updated policy requires portfolio developers to secure licenses such as a MSB Fincen in the United States or in the EU. The change also affects guardian and non -guardian portfolios, causing a significant concern among software developers.

Stricter requirements now apply to American portfolio developers

Google Play now requires that portfolio developers based on the United States register as a monetary services company at Fincen. They must also be authorized as a money issuer at the state level or operate as a bank. This standard applies to all portfolios containing user funds.

According to rage, Google Play Store introduced a demanding policy for cryptocurrency portfolio developers in 15 jurisdictions-including the United States and the EU-to obtain licenses before publishing, such as Fincen MSB registration in the United States and a Mica license in the EU. The rule …

Under this new application, the developers offering non -guardian software are faced with the same obligations as the daycare platforms. Fincen 2019 guidelines excluded non -guardian portfolios from MSB requirements, but Google’s policy contradicts this by imposing license charges that many developers cannot respond.

These obligations also provide LMA and KYC mandates to portfolio applications without guard functionality. Additional compliance costs could stimulate independent non-guardian platform projects. This would reduce the crypto tools and the limit options available for Android users looking for self-cire.

EU portfolio applications now require mica authorization

In the European Union, Google Play lists the portfolios developed by suppliers of Approved Cryptographic Services Mica. Mica currently defines entities such as exchanges or guard platforms with active roles in the care of assets. Non -guardian software wallets fall outside this definition and therefore cannot be eligible for license.

Depending on the rules of mica, single wallets without childcare characteristics cannot receive approval. Politics prevents them from access to the play store in the EU region. This limits publication rights to approved companies or financial institutions operating within the CASP framework.

Although Mica targets guard operations, Google applies it to all crypto wallet developers. Therefore, non -guardian projects must leave the Play Store or move under guardian entities. This marks a significant loss for open source and confidential cryptographic software.

Policy influenced by GADA risk guidelines

The decision seems to be linked to the recommendations based on the risk of the FATF 2021 for virtual assets and service providers. Although the FATF cannot apply the laws, its members implement these directives to avoid global sanctions. Google’s policy reflects this trend by adopting general interpretations of control in cryptographic applications.

FATF guidelines claim that even decentralized applications may be regulations if a central party influences the interface. Based on this logic, non -guardian developers are now considered to be financial intermediaries. Thus, they must respect the rules of conformity built for banks and custody exchanges.

Google’s decision transforms private platform policies into de facto regulation tools. It reshapes access to cryptography not by law, but by commercial control of the distribution of applications. The impact can be long -term exclusion from cryptography portfolios independent of the Android software ecosystem.
