After the close, Nvidia reports its first quarter fiscal 2027 results. On May 28, April PCE and the second estimate of first quarter GDP arrive simultaneously at 8:30 a.m. ET. Here’s what active traders should have a structured framework for over the next fourteen days.
FOMC Minutes — May 20 (today)
The Federal Reserve today releases the minutes of its April 28-29 meeting at 2 p.m. ET. The committee voted to maintain the federal funds target range between 3.50% and 3.75%, noting that inflation remains high, partly reflecting rising global energy prices, and that developments in the Middle East contribute to a high level of uncertainty about the economic outlook.
These minutes have specific meaning beyond the standard release cycle. Kevin Warsh was confirmed as Fed chairman on May 13 in a 54-45 Senate vote; its first FOMC meeting will take place on June 16-17.
The April minutes represent the last full accounting of the committee’s deliberations under the previous leadership structure, released at a time when markets are still calibrating what Warsh’s stated intent (reducing the frequency of Fed communications and retreating from unconditional post-meeting news conferences) means for how the next rate decision will be reported and read.
Traders will examine how individual committee members framed the tension between persistent inflation and a slowing labor market.
The April CPI, published on May 12, stood at +3.8% year-on-year; April non-farm employment figures, released on May 8, show +115,000 jobs and an unemployment rate of 4.3%.
If the minutes reveal significant internal disagreement over whether energy-induced inflation is transitory or expanding, that disagreement becomes the interpretive backdrop to Warsh’s June interpretive framework.
If committee members largely align with a patient, data-dependent wait, that’s a different signal for the summer. The two scenarios have historically been interpreted differently by rate-sensitive assets. Past market behavior is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Second estimate of Q1 2026 GDP + April PCE — May 28
Both versions arrive simultaneously at 8:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, May 28.
Second estimate of GDP
The Bureau of Economic Analysis’s advance estimate for the first quarter of 2026 puts real GDP growth at +2.0% annualized, a rebound from +0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2025. The second estimate incorporates more comprehensive data on trade flows, services consumption and business inventories; revisions back and forth are common at this stage.
Traders will evaluate whether the 2.0% figure reflects sustained private demand or whether it is disproportionately supported by one-off factors, including a rebound in federal compensation and defense-related spending. A significant downward revision would make Warsh’s Fed framework for June 16-17 more complex.
April PCE
The Fed’s preferred inflation indicator for April. The March figure stood at +3.5% year-on-year and +3.2% year-on-year. The April CPI offered a partial signal: overall +3.8%, core +2.8%, with energy accounting for a significant part of the monthly increase.
The PCE and the CPI use different methodologies, so the numbers may diverge, but the directional question is whether the core PCE has remained close to its March pace or whether the easing of the core CPI translates into a similar easing of the PCE measure.
This is the last inflation figure before Warsh chairs his first meeting. If core PCE rises noticeably from March’s +3.2%, this compresses space for any short-term adjustments and gives renewed weight to the longer-term higher scenario. If core PCE decelerates toward or below 3%, this reopens the debate over the pace of the policy cycle.
Both scenarios have implications for the positioning of rate-sensitive assets between now and June 16-17. Historically, rate-sensitive assets, including cryptocurrencies, have reacted to PCE readings in either direction, depending on how the composition of the data stands out against prevailing expectations. Past market behavior is not a reliable indicator of future results.

Nvidia First Quarter Fiscal 2027 Results — May 20 (today, after market close)
Nvidia reports its first quarter fiscal 2027 results tonight. The press release is expected around 4:20 p.m. ET; The conference call begins at 5 p.m. ET.
The company’s own forecast pegs first-quarter revenue at $78.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. The quarter reflects the period through April 26, during which Blackwell architecture products continued to become the primary driver of data center revenue.
The number that will move the markets is the second quarter forecast. Consensus has already pegged around $86 billion for the second quarter of fiscal 2027. A guide at or above that number reads like acceleration; a guide below reads like a deceleration, no matter how strong the first trimester feels. This is a dynamic that has contributed to negative stock reactions in four of Nvidia’s last five quarterly results.
CEO Jensen Huang’s comments on Blackwell’s supply availability through the second half of 2026, H200 revenue recognition in China under current export conditions, and the Rubin platform transition timeline will all be analyzed for signals on the trajectory of AI infrastructure construction.
Nvidia’s report does not directly determine cryptocurrency valuations, but as one of the largest companies by market capitalization and one of the top weightings of major stock indexes, the after-hours reaction shapes the broader risk appetite next session.
Cryptocurrency markets trade 24 hours a day, and participants in Asian sessions often begin assessing risk sentiment in stocks before U.S. cash markets open. Traders with positions sensitive to macro risk appetite should have a framework prepared for either scenario tonight.

Monthly BTC and ETH Options Expiry – May 29
BTC and ETH monthly options expire on Friday, May 29 at 08:00 UTC on Deribit and 16:00 London time on CME.
In the days leading up to monthly expiration, open positions focus on key strike levels and positioning around the pain maximum (the level at which the overall options position expires worthless) and can introduce short-term price behavior that deviates from the trend. This effect is neither reliable nor mechanical, but traders managing options positions will manage gamma exposure throughout the week.

Other events this window
The ISM Manufacturing PMI for May will be released on Monday, June 1 (10 a.m. ET); The April figure held steady at 52.7, a recent high, with prices rising. The ISM Services PMI will follow on Wednesday, June 3. Both provide a secondary indication of whether business activity has maintained its expansion trajectory.
The May Employment Situation Report (NFP) is scheduled for Friday, June 5 at 8:30 a.m. ET, one day after that window closes, but is worth noting given its role as the last major employment data point before the June 16-17 FOMC meeting.
Final context
The next fourteen days form the data corridor between two structurally significant moments: Powell’s transfer of power to Warsh and Warsh’s first FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
The releases arriving in this window (Powell’s final meeting minutes today, April PCE and GDP on May 28, and May NFP on June 5) represent the main set of inputs that will shape how traders read the new Fed’s opening stance.
This creates a well-defined analytical framework: observe how each print stacks up against already established inflation and labor trends, and assess what this means for rate developments through the second half of 2026.
