Crypto analyst The Short Bear spoke to investors who are currently capitulate on Ethereum and unload their parts. He cited a mistake these investors are currently making that could cost them money when ETH’s bullish thesis eventually comes to pass.
Analyst Reveals Misconceptions Investors Have About Ethereum
In a MessageThe Short Bear said that many people are mistaken by treating Ethereum like an end-stage Amazon as if the main question is already about margins, fees and mature cash flows. He explained that in reality, the layer 1 network is still much earlier in its economies of scale phase, with almost all metrics in the upper right corner and growth in the double to triple digits.

The analyst further said that most of the market is focused on the wrong battle, which is which network can become the fastest and cheapest payment processor. However, he felt that the real value may not be in transaction fees himself. Instead, Short Bear believes that the real value lies in the volume of economic activity secured by the network, the credibility of that security, the neutrality of the base layer, and the difficulty of replacing such a network once it becomes widely adopted.
The Short Bear noted that this is where Ethereum seems different to him and why a lot institutions choose ETH. He noted that most other networks still seem replaceable, and while their advantage lies primarily in technical efficiency, they can eventually be copied or rendered useless. However, the analyst believes that Ethereum stands out because the network seeks to become the most secure, decentralized and credibly neutral settlement layer for the Internet economy.
Along the same lines, the analyst said the most valuable network may not be the one with the lowest transaction costs. Instead, it may be the one people trust the most to secure the highest-value assets and applications over the longest period of time.
How ETH could become one of the only neutral and secure bonds
The Short Bear noted that 1/3 of total supply of Ethereum is now in play and that, in this scenario, ETH would not just be another asset to hold. Instead, it could become one of the only truly neutral and secure links for the digital economy. The analyst described a scenario in which ETH maintains its market share while continuing to scale through upgrades that improve speed, throughput, and fees. He noted that the potential remains significant, especially if AI agents become truly crypto-native.

The analyst added that if Ethereum takes the crown as the leading value-collateralized network, then ETH could eventually be seen as a truly decentralized, inflation-adjusting global bond. In this scenario, he noted that ETH would deserve a premium market capitalization because of the value it brings in asset protection, in addition to the incentives to invest and earn returns.
