With great power comes a great responsibility and the cryptocurrency is no exception. It is generally a ton of energy to operate, but the Algorand – a digital currency developed in 2017 – has changed a key element of technology, according to Blockchain magazine.

It is good if you are not familiar with the language around this kind of thing or how it all works. Without going too much in weeds, all you need to know is that the creation of Crypto is based on a large secure book called the blockchain to manage transactions and that the standard way of using the blockchain sucks a ton of electrical energy of the network.

What the Algorand has done was to simplify how users interact with the blockchain when buying or selling Algorand currency. The result is a cryptographic coin which requires less energy considerably to continue, reported the magazine Blockchain.

Since a large part of the electrical network system is always based on the combustion of dirty fuel sources to make energy, the Algorand solution is a victory to keep the planet cool and clean for us, humans live. It also marks a unique opportunity for crypto enthusiasts, because more and more companies are starting to rely on algorands to feed sustainable finance, said the point of sale.

Despite the volatility of alteration during economic changes, crypto owners frequently celebrate many pieces such as forms of money that work in some respects more solidly – and often less hierarchically – than traditional financial accounts.

However, the cryptocurrency world has a long way to go to minimize its pressure on the grid and the environmental impact.

Look now: what is the TRUE Environmental impact of renewable energies?

Some criticisms also argue that the way of doing algorand to make crypto is less safe and more centralized than the usual way of things. Others argue that the Algorand system could change the entire landscape of cryptography and be a real competitor to other popular parts, such as Ethereum, which went to a model of “proof of participation” less with high energy intensity in 2022.

“(Algorand) … Changes the game in the blockchain industry,” said Dr. Lisa Benton, Fintech expert, by Magazine Blockchain. “If the industry continues to prioritize sustainability, Algorand will be a reference for future blockchain networks.”
